Default More STi rumors?

From the dealer (Libertyville, IL) where I bought my WRX, in response to an inquiry about STi's:

Quote:
hi joe

bob here, the sti is due in april or may

there are not many available, the only way to get one is to order one from our allocation, the car is going to have 300 hp, the window sticker will be in the 32000 range and from the orders we have already written the car is going for 2000 over window sticker.

nice to hear from you, take care

any questions please call or email me at rgyanca@hotmail.com

haha, im in IL too, i think dealers charging over sticker will have sti's on thier lots, cause there will be dealers with fair deals in our area, if not, then wait a while, thats my plan, wait a year or two, see how demand is, maybe they will be willing to bargain if demand drops.

My local dealer called to inform my STI is now 2k over invoice. I may wait till the mania subsides, then get one.

Default Re: More STi rumors?

I put a deposit down at the same dealer in Libertyville a month or so ago, I have it in writing that I will not be charged more than MRSP.

I just checked a few minutes ago, they have 2 firm orders, mine included and is working on a third.

Nigel.

I'm getting upset we've bought 4 Subaru's from this dealer since 98. I bought my wrx in early 01 for MSRP.

Good suggestion. My sales guy (four sales) want's me to find a local dealer that will sell it at MSRP so he can take that info to his manager and then maybe they will be reasonable. Why not just switch after that BS.

I think it fair to restate the obvious: the car is not a limited edition. It isn't like there are 400 that are going to sell out in a day.

They're going to be delivering 300/month.

The worst that is going to happen is you will have to wait a little for the car. Anyone who "has to have it now" is the kind of person that is going to pay the ADM. So my advice: be patient, don't pay the ADM.

will the mania subside? i used to have an integra type-r, which was also limited production per year... it was a feeding frenzy since day one for a brand new one and it didn't let up for 2-3 years (i live in canada so we had them every year since 1997 unlike the US which skipped)... used ones varied in price depending on condition, but even the thrashed ones went for high

Integra Type Rs came in much smaller numbers, something like 1000 units a year.

Also, lots of kids wanted Integras (most highly stolen car)
