So is it only coming with BBS wheels or can we downgrade to the regular bug eyed style STi rims.

The B4 rims are the ones I planned on getting on my black wagon, however, I may not get that now that the STi is here. I still want those rims though. Cant stand the gold.

I initially assumed those sweet BBS wheels were just for show on the display cars and would be expensive options like on the WRX, but if so why would Subaru say in its press release that the car comes with "BBS light weight alloy wheels"? I'd sure like to get the BBS, but would like to see them as part of the price of the car, rather than having no choice but getting regular wheels, and then having to ditch them for BBS or aftermarket wheels. I'm not yet sure what the story is on this issue.

The B4 wheels are already an option on current WRXs from the dealer. As the above post stated, the Official SOA STI Site states the car will come with BBS wheels standard. I will keep my fingers crossed as they are some of the most beautiful wheels I have ever seen (especially on a WRB STI). The last BBS wheels offered by SOA cost $3,000 without tires.

Those wheels on the car at the Detroit show I think are 17" BBS. Look at the brake caliper in front--it takes up all the space available. You can't get a smaller wheel on, at least looking at the picture. I don't think those wheels are l8"--they don't look big enough either. I have no idea if these are forged wheels or not, but I think they are the 17s we will get--BBS light alloy wheels. Means we got a better looking ,BBS made, wheel instead of the 5 spoke UK wheels on our new STI. Gidde-up.

I'll ask that question tomorrow at the NAIAS, hopefully someone will be able to give me a straight answer.

The BBS "Spec C" wheels that are on the auto show car are, in fact, the stock wheels for the USDM. The people at NAIAS didn't know of any optional wheels from the factory. And they are 17".

It would be awesome if we get the BBS wheels as the stock STi wheels!
I'll have mine as blue or white with gold wheels. |

Don't know if this is the appropriate forum for this question, but here goes:
I have a deposit on an STi, but am still considering the '04 wrx... the only two aspects of the STi that I am intrigued by are the DCCD and adjustable HIDs. Everything else can be added piecemeal (more or less) to a stock wrx - I don't think 300hp is asking too much of the 2.0l engine. My question is, has anyone heard of availability of the '04 wrx sedan? What about options? Specifically, I'm interested in HIDs on the stock '04 wrx... the added initial expense of the STi is somewhat the basis of this question, even though I recognize that the long term costs are going to be less - in short, I expect the STi to retain its value better than a stock wrx. |

Hummmm, if you think that everything can be piece-mealed together, why can't HID's be piece-mealed? Actually, the discussion over straight line performace for less money has been beat to death, but if you think that you can get the tranny and brakes, let alone the rest, for the same money, stick with a WRX. I have one. I like it! ![]() |
