Talking RS N/A beats 2 WRX.........!

Well I have to say that I took me a while to get here but I'm very pleased w/ the improvements of my car..Last night, after installing my new 11 lbs. flywheel and Tein Coilovers, with my 18"w/ street wheels w/215/40-18's (50lbs each w/tire)I beat a stock WRX, starting from 2nd gear up to 62 mph I had a tire ahead but he slowed down . Today coming from Autocross with my 15" racing wheels and 205/50-15's(36 lbs.each w/tire)I beat my friend's WRX he's not totally stock, he a little bit better intake and low profile 17" at least 3/4 of an inch smaller total diameter than stock, this time from 2nd gear up to my fourth gear I had a little bit more than a 1/2 of my car ahead of him.

Of course we all know the potential of a WRX but still feel very please!!!

And again thanks to Trey Cobb!!!

Andres

Considering you listed a lot of turbo parts, sure.

Only problem being that Andres' car is real, and yours is an idea.

Question

Andres,

Other than the aluminum hood, how did you get your curb weight down below 2700 lbs? Did you string balloons to the spoiler or something? Also, how do Trey's heads and cams affect the driveability of the car?

Andres, I am still waiting on that last "secret" mod of yours so i can get one. I was curious about the heads, I have the cobb cams (etc) and I want the heads. Do you think I should get them? Thanks for the time.

How many times have you stalled your car with an 11lb flywheel?!

I never stalled out my car when it was stock over 2.5 years.

Since december (when I swapped for a 13lb flywheel), I've stalled 4 times. All going in reverse!

You didn't answer the weight reduction question - how'd you remove the weight?

Also, beating somebody an an autox has little to do with 'speed', but rather the driver's ability. I beat a Cobra R, many Mustangs, and I think a Porsche Boxster today at an autox... (shrugs) You think my Impreza is faster than their cars - *ell no!

he did list an aluminum hood and lightweight front and rear bumper reinforcements. that should be a good honest 100lb, if not more.

not at all pretty in a crash though, of course.

Talking

Steve:
I wrote everything what I changed to reduce the weight of my car . TWO weeks ago after I installed my alluminum hood and got a set of Racelines I check the weight at the race track, it showed 2740. LAST FRIDAY I installed a light flywheel 14 lbs. lighter than stock, coil overs almost 10 lbs lighter than my KWB's/Tein combination, and I installed new wheels Kosei's 15/7 they are 7.5lbs lighter than the racelines each, so do the numbers...
ALSO I beat the first WRX on the streets at night in a straight line w/ 200 lbs tires/wheels combination AND next day I beat a WRX by 4 seconds at the Autox AND when we left the race I beat him again in a straight line THREE times w/ my 156 lbs. tires/wheels combo.
......I take that back now I remembered that the day when the car weight 2740 I didn't have passenger seat, BUT I had it on YESTERDAY ,so we have to add whatever the seat weights to the inital 2689, .

Don:
they are leaving today ,check your e-mail please!

Gary:
what are you talking about?

I can't wait until next drag track day to see if I can drop that 14.6 1/4 mile

Andres

Andres,
Keep us posted on your car! Your N/A RS project is very interesting
I know that this madneess has to stop somewhere but do you eventually plan on using a high flow cat and/ or extrude honed intake with your setup. I was wondering if there would be much to gain there. Just curious.

Actually I had a Random technolodies Cat, never used it, sold it to my frien,he didn't like it,he said he lost power, didn't fit right.
With the extrude honed, it will be a gain but I don't have the time to be w/o my car for a week, so, may be later, I have something better coming...

You beat a Cobra R?!?!?!?
I will not call you a liar, you could be right, but you have to admit that to someone who does not know you that is VERY hard to swallow!

That IS the fastest, quickest, best handling best braking Mustang ever made, period... a factory race car.

There's been at least 3 Cobra Rs, don't get your panties in a bunch. The newest one just happens to be the most powerful, heaviest and very much in the media spotlight.

And besides, he said he beat one at an autocross. The right driver in a bone stock RS could probably whip me in a Corvette.

If you had not guessed, I was trying to get him to tell us the story! I do have a grasp on the concept of driver skill. My "panties" are not bunched. Thanks for the input though.

Ok, correction. It was not a Cobra R, it was a Factory Five Racing Cobra replica, on street tires. That said, the driver is not all that talented, though I'd guess that car does 0-60 is less than 4.0 sec. My point was that _fast_ (in a stiright line) doesn't necessarily apply to autox, and comparing any two drivers' times in a different car is always an apples to oranges comparison, one from which you can't draw conclusions like those here in this thread. I'd admit, though, it's certainly tempting. You certainly can draw conslusions about the drivers, though (obviously).

When the actual results are posted, I'll let you know.

My Impreza handled better than it ever has - it's absolutely beautiful. I have oversteer whenever I need it to rotate around a corner, and understeer to push out hard out of the corners. The front end was seemingly glued on turn-in - I was amazed. I can't tell you how enjoyable that feeling was...
