Hey, I was looking around for an intake, because it seems that is the first thing a lot of people do to enhance their cars performance. I like the idea cuz it introduces a new something under my hood, is not too expensive, and creates a different sound...
My question is, what is the best intake in terms of a balance between performance and price for a MY '02 2.5RS. I was looking at this one, is it any good? web page for intake I think I read someone installed it on a NA sentra, so I think it could be done on my non wrx. Is 20% hp gains true? Bahboy20 ![]()

20% HP gains is not true. Anywhere. That would be 33 brand new horsepower just because you replaced the funky factory maze with a straight pipe. Not possible.
Of course, you will find small gains...on the order of a few HP (<5). As far as which one to go with? Look in this section for the Do-It-Yourself CAI thread, and do it yourself. Just as good, even cheaper. JS |

Best bang for the buck. Add a performance filter and you are set. |

Put the Ganz and Amsoil filter on our 2002 OBS. The 2002 OBS has the 2.5 powerplant.

Intake is a really good mod to do. It's easy and you can get some wonderful gains from it.
20% is totally out of the question, no intake made will give you those kind of gains unless it has forced induction in it... We are building a new intake at COMPASS MOTORSPORTS, the prototype that we tested on a four wheel dyno(Mustang Dyno)showed an increase of 14.6 HP @ 5500rpm and an increase of 12.9 ft/lbs @ 3750rpms. We also saw a gain in torque below 3000rpms. At approx. 2700rpms the gain in torque is very close to 15 ft/lbs. These tests were performed with a hi flow muffler and Denso Iridium spark plugs as the only other modifications. See following charts. We are planning to release production intakes in either late June or early July. Thank you. You will loose some low end power. But you will make it up at the top end. |
