Question Fuel Pump Power/Ground Wire?

I have a MY99 and want to put a fuel pump shut off switch in my car, for added security. Basically, I want to be able to through a switch so that when someone, other than myself, try's to start it the motor will not get enough fuel to keep running.

Can someone please tell me the location and the color code of the Power and Ground wires for the fuel pump.

Thanks!

The Fuel Pump relay on MY99 is Fuse Box 10 (FB10) on the Fuse / Relay Box.

Plug B158 to the relay box has 12 pins (X = plastic latch):

1 2 3 X X 4 5
6 7 8 9 0 A B

Pin 5 , should have a green wire. This is the power to: ECU, Fuel Pump, Ignition Coil and AT control module.

There is also plug R46 under the rear seats RH side. Plug R46 (from car) plugs into R67 (To fuel tank). It's a 2 pin plug (pins are stacked vertical under the plug latch. Pin 1 is the Brown wire: power. Pin 2 is blue wire: Ground.

At the fuel pump, (Access from the trunk) it's plug R58:

1 2 3
4 5 6

Pin 1 (Brown) and 4 (Blue) are fuel pump wires from plug R67. Pins 5-6 are fuel temp sensor and 3 is the fuel gauge.

There you go.

See, if you just ask nicely

scooby5- Quick response time Thanks a lot. Really appreciated!

Have you done this to your car? Would you recommend one power source over the other. The green wire, power to ECU kinda scares me. I've got the S-AFC and don't want to lose any settings. I'm assuming the under the passenger seat would work the best?

I followed the wire from the rear seats, and it connects to the bulkhead loom near the passenger door against the outside panel, next to the ECU.

There are 3 large connectors that bring the loom to the rear. The connectors are B97 (10pins)-98(20pins)-99(20pins) .

The Brown wire from R67 makes its way there at B97 pin 9 (Brown) before going to the Fuse Box where it's spliced with other power wires. The Blue wire gets to a ground point before that and doesn't make it to that connector.

B97 looks like this:
(- = nothing (filling up spaces),
X = plug latch )

----X----
1 2 3 4 5
6 7 8 9 A

B98 looks like this: ( - = empty air)

1 2 3 4 5--X--6 7 8 9
A B C D E F G H I J K

B99 (pins 1 and 10 (A) are two rows large)

1 2 3 4 5--X--6 7 8 9 A
1 B C D E F G H I J K A

My guess is it'll be easier to find the plugs under the rear seats, but easier to wire up to the plug next to the ECU.

now that you've made me search for it, I'm very tempted to put a switch for it as well, doesn't cost much and can prove pretty useful!

Nick
