Thumbs up Awesome pikes peak video

A co-worker told me about this video. It's a Peugeot 405 T16 car with driver Ari Vatanen behind the wheel. This video appears to have won a few film festival awards, and is very good quality(69megs).

enjoy,

Cool - another video to add to my collection to eventually make it's way onto a cd.

Those Group B Supercars were so awesome! That is an insane video. I could never imagine someone driving up Pikes Peak THAT fast.

Great Video! I had some video of Walter Rohrl (sp?) making the run up in an Audi S1 or S2, it was good but it didn't give you the same feeling of speed as this one.

Thanks for sharing

Incidentally, two of those Peugeot 405 T16's were made in Pikes Peak spec. One sold for around 265,000 Euro IIRC. In truth though, I dont think anyone would make fun of the huge wing and outlandish body kits on those cars. Engineers eventually reached a limit of power that when applied, the cars had a tendency to just GO STRAIGHT!!!! Which when you are trying to corner around a tight turn with a 5000 ft drop off on the outside, can be a little risky, dont you think? The ability to go from 0-60 in 2s actually put these cars in the Formula class of cars I believe. With the exception of outlandishly expensive exotics, you will never see these cars of this sheer brute power battle it out in sanctioned events.

I always have to watch this one every once in a while. It's good to know that someone is still circulating it. I hope that someone decides to do something similar to it one day... Pikes Peak is a hell of an event... was there for the first time last year, just awesome, I recommend it to anyone who loves motorsports.
