Post Need an answer

Hi guys,

I've gone and confused myself...

Can someone please tell me the type of bolt the 2.5 block uses (DOHC not that, that makes any difference).

Does the main block bolts have a washer on it ?

Is it silver or gold in colour ?

What size spline socket does it use 12mm or 14mm ?

Which of these looks like it:

<IMG SRC="http://www.firefox-technology.com/images/closed%20deck%20bolts.jpg" border=0>

<IMG SRC="http://www.firefox-technology.com/images/open%20deck%20bolts.jpg" border=0>

Anyone have a part number for them ? (two lengths, main bolts are longer, two front ones are shorter)

Cheers,

J.

I can answer for SOHC. If you think it's the same, fine.

They use 14mm 12 sided bolts which are silver. The center pair have red heads, the outer four have silver heads. I do think they have washers.

They look like the second pic.

Thanks for Colin,

I assume the washers dont slide off the bolts ?

I just need to confirm for sure these are the correct bolts I have... Can someone measure the length of the bolt, the diameter of the unthreaded bolt and the washer diameter.

Cheers,

J.

go to a subaru dealer and ask them for a shop manual. You will have a correct answer for sure.

Jay, I believe the washer doesn't come off. If you need a part number, ask Ryan Cavalier at Irvine Subaru. His email is [email protected] , just tell him you have a 99 Impreza 2.5RS and need cylinder head bolts for it.
