Talking Grapefruit shooter or STi muffler--you be the judge!

Just got a package from SPD. I don't think the tip's TOO big...

I agree Jon. As much as I liked my Apexi N1 muffler, it was just a bit over the top. And I'm also leaning more towards the "Group A" throbby sound then the higher pitched crackle that is associated with alot of the Japanese aftermarket mufflers.

Now, if I can get my hands on the new STi GeNOME muffler, that would be nice. Sporty, yet not overkill IMHO.

Jon, How big is that tip? I've definitely seen bigger! Looks like the grapefruit's on the small side! Have you checked it out on the car yet? May not look as bad as you think. Just my $.02.

It's actually not too bad. The stock tip is about 3" OD, the STi is maybe 3.5 or 3.75 at the most. I just happened to have a grapefruit handy...

I have an N1 clone with a 4.5" tip and I will say its a little outrageous but that's okay. I mean if I didn't want to draw attention I would of bought a Civic. No one seems to know what an Impreza is except for those who follow vehicles quite a bit. Lets be honest with ourselves, a hood scoop, vents, spoiler, even in stock form the car looks tight. Anyway, I am rambling off topic. I think that exhaust looks good.

I plan on getting the STi because its louder than the stock RS, but not as loud as a lot of the aftermarket ones out there.

The perfect match IMO!

I also agree that your grapefruit looks a little anemic.

Shik's Legacy with the N1 is nuts!!! Crazy loud, but the tip is entirely too big!! Hell, that thing's almost a watermellon shooter!! I'm going with the dual tip Stromung, as the dual tips just look sooooo nice and fit the bumper notch so nicely!! Plus, you can't beat the sound, IMHO!

Yeah, that noise is a characteristic of an I6. If you listen hard enough, you'll even hear it in 4.0 I6 Jeep Cherokees. There's no way you can get a H4 to sound like an I6.

to get the bimmer growl (which i now have come to like..albeit i LOVE the suby snarl! ) you NEED a BMW I6 OR..a tape recording played through your stereo

I think a nice Remus exhaust would yield nice German car growls. Too bad Remus when bye bye with our mufflers.

The STI looks too much like stock. The STI embossed on the side is cool though. STI is not very loud though!

Remus has not dicontinued mufflers for the RS. They actually just came out with a new single oval tip bent up axle back exhaust. I just read about it in Max Power. The coolest thing about Remus is the cut out wolf head on the side of the tip. Remus muffler are so heavy though. 33 lbs or so.

adamrs - 'looks too much like stock'
lol, I didn't know exhaust was an appearance mod
for me... gimme a functional tip (I don't think that bigger than the inlet makes a difference) so 2.25 in, 2.25 out
imho
