Lightbulb Catz HID Kits

I just want to see how many of you may be interested in a Catz HID kit. They are pricier than the Phillips/Hella/OSRAM kits out there. I am somehow drawn by the Catz kit. I don't know any other kit out there distributed by a company that has been making lights for so long. All the Phillips/Hella/OSRAM kits are distributed by a third-party who may or may not be locateable if warranty issues arise.

Anyway, if there is enough interest, I will apply for a vendor license and try to get everyone a good price. We are looking at these estimated prices:

4300k single beam kits - ~$400
4300k dual beam kits - ~$500
5100k single beam kits - ~$500
5100k dual beam kits - ~$600

Single beam kits are available for H1, H4, 9005/9006, 9007, H7 and H3C
Dual beam kits are avaialble for H4 and 9007

There is a 1 year warranty with these kits (Offered by Catz).

These prices are estimates and will most likely go down if the interest is there.

Info from Catz website.

EDIT: Added warranty info and Catz link.

As far as I know, they only have one 6000k kit available and it's a H3. That kit should run about $350

As more and more of these high temperature kits come out, many of you will realize there is no more useable light with the higher temperature. It's just the color that is different.

Isn't the sun 4300K?? So that would make the ideal HID kit at 4300...the most usable light for our eyes, right?

EDIT: I'm interested.

Right now, I don't think Catz offers any 6000k kits other than for the H3. I can find out for sure. Catz offers a 1 year warranty for their kits.

what kind of warranties are on these ?

The firms that sell HIDís take a bulbs that were made for BMW or other cars and refit it. A real problem would develop if you needed another bulb or other part after the warranty was expired. I would be interested in knowing if the bulbs or other parts for the Katz kit can be purchased individually. To me that would be a big selling point. I mean how do you know if the firm you bought your HIDís from will even be in business 2 years from now.?

Which one can the MY 01 RS use? Would I need to get projector lamps or can I use my stock ones? I might be in.

This groupbuy would be hard to set up. There is too much variety with the kits (4300k single and dual, H4 and H7, 5100k single and dual, H4 and H7). I need 10 kits to get started but I have no idea which kit people want. Also, the likelihood of me getting stuck with a kit is very big with this one, since most people would cheap out and buy a no name HID kit. I'm still up in the air about doing this but if there's enough specific and serious interest, I will do my best to hook everyone up.

Nizz, you might want to see if Catz will do the pricing for you, and then you could just organize the GB for them? I've seen it done before in a similar fashion with the leather seat group buys. Of course Catz would then need Vendor Status.

I'd like to see more info about the kits. From what I have read it is actually designed to work with the stock reflector type lamps, which is a big plus (many kits aren't).

CATZ HID Systems represent a whole new generation in halogen lamp-to-HID conversion kits. They offer all the benefits of HID lighting and none of the performance compromises that other, older generation kits are plagued with. CATZ HID Systems feature CATZ HID capsules which are precisely designed and manufactured so that the central light source is directly aligned to the original halogen bulb light source. This design produces a beam pattern that is not altered from the original in shape, but is significantly brighter and more functional.

CATZ HID Systems are optically precise and properly shielded to provide amazingly effective, bright and unobtrusive beams. CATZ even offers a no-compromise solution for 9007 and H4 lamps which utilizes a solenoid controlled capsule to precisely change the position of the central light source (not the shield) to provide a fully functional high AND low beam! These high/low kits are a CATZ exclusive.

All CATZ HID kits are completely plug-and-play with detailed instructions and easy to install, keyed, one-way, O.E. style wiring connectors for a fool-proof installation. CATZ HID Systems are used as OEM products in the Japanese vehicle market and carry ISO 9001/14001 Certification. (International Quality of Manufacturing Standards). The Certified product failure rate is LESS than 1 part per million. Quality has always been a top priority at CATZ.

DOT and SAE Approval has been granted on the ballast and igniter, and the HID bulbs are in the process of approval. Therefore, these kits are listed as "Off Road Use Only".

I'd be interested if I actually had money.

I've had too many bad personal experiences with group buys here in the past. You pay and you end up waiting and waiting. I've been on some good group buys but the bad ones outweigh the good. Of course, I know not all of the delays are caused by the vendor organizing the groupbuy. Lots of things can go wrong, like the supplier can be out of stock, damaged and lost items in the mail, etc. So to simplify things, I would front the money for all the units myself and then sell only units that I have on hand.

I will check final pricing on Catz this week and try to decide what I should get.

Mods: If you can PM me with vendor status info, that'd be greatly appreciated.
