Question 20 - 40 HP ????

I have a couple questions for all you RS lovers out there.

I have grown a complex ever since the WRX came out. I have a '00 2.5RS and I love it. But I would love it even more if it had the WRX HP.

I want to add at least 20 - 40 HP to my RS. But I don't want the headache and the oils leaks, when adding a turbo. So, the question is. What other mods can I do to spice up the HP on my 2.5RS?

Nitrous kit will get you 50HP cheap. Otherwise I would look into a lot of stuff, intake, headers, exhaust, cams. Check out www.cobbtuning.com they have a lot of stuff for n/a Imprezas. 40HP is gonna be tough

40hp won't be tough, but getting to the peak hp levels of the WRX could be. The Cobb stage 3 NA kit is good for 50hp+ (and costs more than a turbo kit). Not cheap, but certainly not difficult.

Thanks for the info and link to Cobb Tuning. That's what I was looking for.

The bottom line is, I want to mod my engine. But not risk the integrity with a turbo, as this is my every day driver

Yeah, but get the Paeco catalog and you will see the light. They have everything from a light n/a street builup, to a race prepped engine that needs rebuilding all the time. Paeco seem like they are very good company to deal with, I spoke with them a few time's and they are very accomodating and much cheaper than Trey Cobb. Give them a call and request a catalog, you wont be dissapointed. Oh, and I would always go the turbo route when looking for more power, if you have the money. You will be happy with the N/A buildup for a while, but the power bug will continue to bite and a turbo is much more upgradable for less money. If I was you I would go with a small turbo. Just my $.02

A small turbo is very reliable, the only real weak point it the clutch if you have the 5MT. Going with a small turbo would be much friendlier, on a daily basis, than trying to squeak 40HP out of bolt-ons.

You also won't have the installation down time, and cost, associated with the N/A mods. Things like heads/cams, you'll have to remove them, send them off, and wait for them to come back. Probably 2wks of downtime.
