Default Flashing CEL vs. Solid CEL

I have had my TurboXS stg 4+ in for about a 2weeks now and have gotten 5 CEL's. They have all gone away after a day. I have no way to pull the code (I am working on that). My question is some CEL's flash some are solid, is there a differance? Also some last 10 min and some last a day, is there a differance? Thanks guys.

flashing CEL's usually means a serious Mis-fire condition. If you have a lighweight Flywheel, that could be the cause. If not, it is highly recommended u have ur car checked. This is most likely related to P0301-304 codes for Cylinder mis-fire.

I do not have a lightweight flywheel. I did get the flashing CEL when I hit the rev limiter in 3rd, hard! The solid CEL came on this moring when I started the car after a cold (california standards) night.

Do you have a UTEC? If so the flashing CEL is the UTEC letting you know you are having detonation issues.

I don't believe he's referring to a "flashing" CEL, but a CEL which comes on for a few hours or a few days and then disappears for a while (and then comes back). This is normal, at least for certain codes.

My rear O2 simulator went bad and I haven't got around to fixing it yet. The CEL comes on for a while, then goes off for a while. The trouble code doesn't go away, it stays there, and I can plug in a scan tool and read the O2 sensor malfunction code even when the CEL is off.

I can only assume the reason they turn the CEL back off is so that the light can still function as a misfire indicator or to come on if a different trouble code is generated. Or, maybe it only shuts the CEL off for non-serious situations, such as the rear O2 sensor malfunctioning.

Nathan - No I am still running my old UniChip

When I say flashing I mean lighting up for about a half second then turning off, it does this for 10-15 min.

I think u need the Vishnu EMI adapter or the new "XEDE" device. Otherwise trade in your Unichip for a ECUtek re-flash!

Do most of you with a TurboXS stg 4 (or equivalent - VF34, STI injectors, fuel pump, uppipe, turboback, uprgade TMIC or FMIC) have CEL issues?
