Default New base engine when new Legacy comes out?

2.5T for GT, but what about L? What about base Impreza? Staying EJ25, new 2.5 NA, or something else?

Default Phase III?

There have been rumors of a Phase III engine. Current 2.5s are Phase II engines. What is a Phase III engine? Who knows? When will it arrive? Again, who knows? My guess is that it would arrive with the debut of the next-generation Legacy/Outback. That would make the most sense, IMO.

Default Phase III

I've heard the same thing...I've also heard that the Phase III engines may be renamed EZ25 instead of EJ25 like the H6...all rumors until we find out.

Hey Sebring, you all know H6 engines are referred to as EZ and the H4's are EJ (guessing it was just a typo.) Well I have yet to hear about much in terms of new engines, but as the new H6 is a Phase III, perhaps the H4 line will move to a Phase III unit as well, though I also don't know what it all entails. My guess is, we will likely stay with 2.5L and 3.0L displacements, but the 2.5L NA can use some modifications to boost power slightly (I know it is quite capable of it.) I would like to see a high-performance version of the EZ30 make a debut in the Legacy line-up just below the EJ25(turbo) and it should have AVCS to pull some more power out of it (is 230-240hp asking too much?) Then there is the EJ25 turbo engine, that is going to be quite interesting, likely a slightly less modified version of the STi long block, but none-the-less capable of producing some generous amounts of power (perhaps 8.2-8.5:1 compression.) For more info of what I would like to see in the next generation Legacy line-up, look here.

Default Oh, okay thanks

Thanks SUBE555 for clearing that up...I read that somewhere earlier and was just repeating it...I wasn't sure how the nomenclature went. However, any sort of hp and torque increase is welcomed to the 2.5 The turbo might be the only thing Subaru will do and keep the 2.5 NA the way it is.
