too many factors.
do you mind looking out dark windows?
do the local cops like "looking" into dark windows?
it depends on preference.
i had 35 on my last car and it was too light for me. car stayed cooler but you can see right in during the day.
i didn't mess around with the subaru and got 15 all around with a 9 inch drop on the windshield. nice and dark, privacy and keeps the car much cooler in the summer. i got stopped once for it ( i think the blitz bov and my hid's caught his attention first) but i didn't egt a ticket for it. i guess he saw i wasn't some punk 17yo kid and let me go on my way.
here are some pics for your reference:

MHO, 35% looks just right on silver. Any darker would be too lobsided in contrast. By that I mean visually no one will notice your car, just your windows.

ooooo...ahhhh

that 15% looks nice...I'll switch to that when I finally get sick of mirror...

I think 35% is nice and you get no trouble from cops...but for looks...IMO the darker the better because it looks more "solid"...

I have 35% on my SVX. If I had to do it again, I'd go with 20%. The 20% factory tint I have on my Trooper looks great.

I have had the tint on for over a year and no problems at all. A friend of mine was pulled over for his tint (done in limo) and all they did was give him a warning and gave him 5 days to remove the tint he had to go to the police station and show them it was removed or they would have given him a fine not really sure how much.

The only windows they can hassle you on is the front 2 windows I wouldnt go any darker then 32-35%.

Guess it depends on where you live in PA and how the cops are in your area.

Just my $0.02

Here is a picuture taken on a nice sunny day the other one was taken when the sun was going down.

I have 20% on my silver rex and all I get is compliments. Everyone loves how it looks on the car. Kind of a pain backing up at night but you learn how to deal with it.

Many cars, many tints, always different results. For your silver car, I'd recommend 35% if you're aiming for looks and overall sweetness, and 20% if you're looking for privacy in the cabin. Anything darker (especially limo) will most likely attract unwanted attention to your car (i.e the Men in Blue and also vandals and theives as they think you're hiding something).

My Saturn (dark blue) was tinted 20% doors (all 4), back 5%. Damn near impossible to see behind you at night. Got pulled over and ticketed specifically for the tint, but that was in Oakland and Randolph, where the cops have a reputation for being pricks.

My Jetta (dark blue also) was tinted 35% all around. Looked decent, never had a problem with the cops, seeing out back was still a problem, though not anywhere near as bad.

My RS (black) is currently tinted 35% all around. In some lights, it's almost impossible to tell that I have tint. My wife, who's ridden in the car pre-and post-tint didn't even realize it was tinted. I wish I had gone 20%.

The lighter the color of the car itself, the more noticeable the tint will be. This isn't to say the tint will look darker or lighter, but you will realize you have tinted windows more easily than on a darker car.

Also, a darker car will more often than not make your tint look darker than it is, especially at night. Plus, on darker cars, the tint seems to blend in with the car better, and offers a smoother transition that the tint doesn't really stand out on its own.

The type of tint also has a lot to do with it, make sure you go with Llumar films, as they are the industry best in my opinion. In addition, the outside lighting will also have a huge affect on how the tint looks from the outside.

I have to say, I've noticed barely a difference looking out my windows with 20% or 35%, visibility is just fine from the driver's seat. It's when you hit 15% or limo when you notice it's darker for you.

And, to close out, my rule of thumb for cops and tint - no matter what state you live/drive in: if the cops can see into the car enough to count how many occupants and recognize movement, they don't usually care. They want to make sure they're not going to get shot or otherwise attacked, and they are less apprehensive about coming to your window if they can see what you are doing. Also, it's sometimes a good idea to give an officer an alternative infraction to cite you for in some cases. That's my opinion, YMMV.

Check with the cops or DMV to find out what the law is and go from there.

No it is not the inspector's responsability, it is the state and local cops job.

lower than 30%, in our area the naz, and beth. township cops will be ALL OVER YOU.

20% here. I've never been bothered. I would recommend not going any darker than that. I live in a fairly rural area though. I would stick with around 30% if you don't want any trouble,
