Default Looking for someone who wants to get into Club Rally. In the Wisconsin area.

OK so here it goes

I for those of you who missed it, I sank my RS on Sunday by going through the ice at an ice race.

The car was nicely flooded, with the engine running... so Its got some problems.

Now I am looking at buying the car back from the insurance company for 1000 -1500 and building up a Club Rally / RallyX car. (Production Class). I am located in Madison WI, and my goal is to have this car race ready by end of 2003 ( or possibly LSPR??).

Heres a copy/paste from another thread I had:
Quote:
Well right now I am looking for someone who seriously wants to start a Club Rally team. I figure for like 8000$ total this car can be ready to run in a club rally. ( a new crate EJ25 is NOT that expensive, and pending inspection there may not be that much damage to the existing plant. ) The tranny should be sound, new suspension, roll cage, 2 racing seats, and new wire harness.

I figure if I get the car back in a month or so, work on it all summer bit by bit, by 2004 the car should be ready to run RallyX's/Club Rally. I may do it myself but I really need a place to stash the car for a few months till its atleast in a condition to sit in my parking structure. ( ie: remove all the innards from the cabin and get it cleaned out so it dont reak up the place).

it will be SOOOO freaking nice to have a car like this to tear up on trails and not be worried about paint job, or getting to work the next day. ( will also let me keep the 2004 WRX in pristine condition )
So... please let me know if there is anyone in the midwest or better - Madison area who wants to venture into this Club Rally thing with me.... I am looking at this as a TOTAL learning deal... learning more about the car, more about myself, and more about driving. Looking for a partner/codriver whos looking for the same things. ( wow this sounds like a personal!)

Post if you are interested in getting together on this lil project

Default RS rally car

By production, you mean PGT.
You need the interior, headliner, rear seats and door panels. The window motors need to work, etc. This is the showroom stock of rally. Buy a rulebook and join the SCCA, that's first.

I saw that you had an auto in the pictures...I would ditch that for racing while you are at it!!
I agree with Randy..start with the rule book, so you get everything right.
Good luck!!

Rofl!!

One of the funny things is, that most 5MT subie trannies wont last ONE race atleast teh 4EAT's can handle the power you give them hehehe.

well just as running a stock 5MT in a rally is a disposable tranny ( hell for most people just drivign them on the street is enough to break them), running a stock 4EAT is also disposable ( for different reasons.. the 5MT will just shred itself the 4EAT will cook itself). A properly mod'd 4EAT will do rather nice. Just look at the knight race team's 4EAT monster. a STi6 is the way to go.. but I dont plan on spending 6k on a tranny right away.

Default facts is facts I guess

Since you are so all-knowing about this, I stand corrected.
again, good luck.

edit:
24+ rallys with a 2.5RS in the last 2 years plus rallyXs, Solos and whatever else I could race in.
