chrisj:

Mine's the same as omahasubaru's. Got it from Mike (spd). There was some reference by motorob to Ducati's being loud. That's true if the stock mufflers are changed out. Actually, I have two (one with stock cans and one with Termignoni cans) and the difference is enormous. Of course, you guys who like noise can do what motorcycle people do -- wear earplugs.

The point here is that the sti (v6 I believe)and the borla header mimic a quieter v-twin, v-8, and v-4 (VFR).

Mike also provided a 2.25" midpipe, which I understand is the stromung midpipe.

Yea I have a 750ss with micron carbon cans on and it is a terror on the highway. Thanks for the advice. That sounds like the setup I'm looking for.

- STI from MIke
- Mid pipe
- Borla header

Thanks!

So now that the desision is made. Where is the best place to get the parts. It looks like Mike is selling the v4 can. I would prefer to have the v6 if I can.

Get it from Mike. Midpipe & muffler cost me $368 plus shipping. Someone in your area (TRD?) sells them for $700-800.

There is nothing like a Ducati V-twin.Ferracci Nero Ducati 944cc.

I've been trying to decide what route I want to go with my exhaust as well. I did sign up for the MRT second group buy but who knows what's going to happen with that.

If SPD's selling the v4, he must have been storing them for a very long time. When was the v4 last made, 1998? The one I got from him was clearly a take-off, but not really "used" looking.

I thought they came from recent STis like the steering wheels and seats. Recent means v6 right now--I don't think Prodrive is building many v4 Group N Imprezas.

Just an FYI, adding the Cobb Mild Street Cams to my car with the 2.25" Apex'i universal N1 quited it down. I do not dub my exhaust to be intrusive, just a nice tone. Roll the windows down, however, and it gets nice and "Rally car'ish". The cams probably have the same affect as the headers do.

I think it's more likely that Mike needs a new webmaster. He did a semi-update last Summer, but most of that site's been the same for a while.

We have a new exhaust system that we are running on our own car that sounds like what your talking about. Its a dual oval muffler setup. Once out of the down pipe(on turbos), cats(on NA) dual 2" pipes go to the back into dual, 2" inlet/otlet oval aluminum mufflers. This way you get the flow capability of a 4" system without the problem of clearance. I will take a pic of the car and post it so you can see what I am talking about. The mufflers can also be stainless steel, carbon fiber, or titanium. Price on these kits have not been decided yet but they sure are something. And the note; its amazing. Its like 2 ducatis going at it at. Not for the faint hearted.

We are running a dual oval muffler kit kinda like what you are looking for. Comming out of the down pipe(turbo), cats(NA) two 2" pipes to the back into two 2"inlet/outlet oval aluminum mufflers. This kit has the flow capability of a 4" system without the problem of clearance. Mufflers like the N1 etc , are huge and not ideal for clearance. They scrape on speed bumps etc. Our mufflers are half the heigh, if not less of an N1 muffler. They come in polished aluminum, stainless steel, carbon fiber or titanium. The price is not set yet but they are something else alright. And the note; its amazing. Its like 2 Ducatis going at it. Definately not for the faint hearted. I will take a pic and post it so you can see what I am talking about.
