Question Proper K&N oiling! HELP ME PLEASE!

I just washed and oiled my K&N cone filter last night, it is still greasy to the touch. Did I over oil it or is this right. I have a 99 RS with the "sensitive" MAF, therefore I cannot over oil my filter. Its not dripping off it by any means, nor has it ever. Should I wipe the surface off a bit or what...I followed the directions on the box (I read them BEFORE I started too) and just want to make sure.
Last time I did this I had an ITG cone on my Jetta, wash, dry, spray goo on it and bolt it on......help!

Shawn,

I wouldn't wipe it down. If you lay it pleat side down on a clean towel or something like that, it should absorb any excess oil.

I usually leave the filter sitting for an hour or so (during lunch) the just drop it on a piece of cardboard a few times, then wipe any excess off with a towel. I won't be doing this for long though, I've got a Rallispec intake coming soon..

I use the spray can, and go really lightly til the color is uniform. the oil is pretty heavy, so you can put the filter upside down, and stuff a paper towel inside for a while. The excess oil (if any) should pool up and collect. If you use the "pour" bottle, you'll have to let it drip for sure, or put it into a hand-sprayer. Go easy, and be sure to clean the MAF regularly (see other post) I have almost 48k on my original MAF, and have used the K&N cone for most of that time.
