I'm there dude. Shannon will be taking her new SVT Focus too... we're both in the advanced time trial class. So are you doing the race class Howard?

I can't wait! I haven't been to the track in over 3 months! That's like an eternity!!

You don't have to have a cage to be in the time trial classes... only the race class. You do need a 5-point harness & fire extinguisher for anything over street performance however.

I'm gonna do the driving school with the Ultimates and see how they work out... I'm out of cashola for the club race pads at the moment. You ran Laguna on Ultimates didn't you? How did they hold up?

I'll probably get a set of Porterfield R4 pads before big Willow in April.

Who is Robert Teaford? He's in the Race Group A with me. He drives an 03 wagon and he'll probably kick my ass.

Just to show you how gentle I am on brakes...
2 days at Laguna Seca PLUS
2 days at Sears Point PLUS
2 days at Willow Springs
and I have 70% left on my Axxis Ultimates.

Gentle is reflected in my woeful lap times!

I'll be trying -2.5 front camber with 1/16" toe out this time. Let's see if the car will go where I point it. I just hope that I point it in the right direction

Ben's very quiet. I suspect that he's gone all "big power" on us and is trying for a surprise.

Chip, you know that Alfa Club's running Laguna May 17+18 this year? BMWCCA cancelled and we got it! So, races and TTs at Willow in April, Laguna in May and Buttonwillow in June! My budget just got busted. I hope that Uncle Sam kicks me back a refund this year or the kids will have to go without shoes.

I look forward to seeing all of you this Saturday.

Cool! Sounds like we'll have a good group of scoobies out at the track. I'm looking forward to seeing hiro's car, it looks awesome in pictures! Her car was one of the first WRXs that I ever saw up close... at an AROSC driving school, and it was mostly stock back then!

I heard about the May date for Laguna! That's excellent! I was bummed when we left in November because it was going to be a whole year before we got to go back... but now it's only a couple months away! I'm excited.. hopefully I'll have my Vishnu Stage 2 by then

Oh man, Buttonwillow in June is gonna be killer! Hopefully it won't be too hot! BTW, need a codriver for the enduro?

See you guys all on Saturday!!

I got my acceptance letter two days ago for novice time trial. Looks like Advance TT and Novice TT will have the same schedule. 8-)

Two of my friends signed up for Street Performance, but it's all filled up. I heard the race group is filled also.

It seems like all the Alfa Club events are filling up these days - that's because their prices are so reasonable. I suspect that a price hike is coming this year. I wonder if they'll use the extra revenue to purchase a transponder system?

Checked out Hiro's car on her site - looks great.

Not only lots of WRXs, but lots of WHITE WRXs - the best colour! Group photo?

Chip, I don't know if I'll race this year. I just want to have the opportunity. If I don't poop myself at the race school I'll try racing at big Willow in April, and if I don't poop myself there... etc etc.

I'm going!!!

Just got word this morning from Steve Hamilton, one of the organizers.

He also said that the price would go up significantly next time (the Sept. school I presume). I asked what he meant by "significant" and he said... $20! What a deal! He was very much against the price increase, but I'll pay $185 any day for 2 days of driving school at Streets of Willow.

Well I'm off to look for a tech place and secure a new set of brake pads. Axxis Ultimates seem to be the popular choice?

Is anyone bringing a video camera? Will we have time to get video of our cars on the track? What other things should I bring for my first time out there?

Obvious things to bring - real food and snacks. LOTS of water, hat, sunscreen, (Willow can be hot and dry even in Feb) one of those fold-up chairs if you've got one, an easy-up canopy if you've got one. Something warm to wear for the mornings and late afternoons (Willow gets cold in the evenings).

Oh, and driving gloves.

If I can stand in for Steve Hamilton here - DON'T bring an attitude (he always goes on about that!).

To me a significant price increase for this event would be 20-30%, not $20.

Unless you're Schumacher quick, Axxis Ultimates will be fine. This is a school, not a race.

Looking forward to meeting you

Sounds great!

What should I bring in the way of tools? What is everyone else bringing? Does an EZ-up fit in the WRX trunk? I have access to two of them, so as long as they fit i'll bring both.

Tools, not much really, Jack maybe. I don't know what you're planning to do - change wheels, change brake pads?

IF it isn't too windy, then one easy-up will be fine otherwise your car can get pretty baked in the desert sun. Bring some oil (just in case), some gear oil (just in case). Torque wrench is always handy.

Edit.
I'm saving money and driving there and back each day. I live about an hour away.

I usually bring a small tool box full of goodies (full socket set, commonly needed wrenches, torque wrench, brake bleeder, screwdrivers, small floor jack, jackstands, electric compressor, etc). You can never be too prepared! Bring a spare quart of oil, brake fluid, PS fluid, gear oil, and a gallon or two of distilled water... just in case.

I usually bring an EZup (10x10'), some folding chairs, and a cooler full of snacks, food, and water.

Bring your video camera if you want, I'm bringing mine so I can get some in-car footage like usual.

Are any of you guys driving up Friday? I'll probably be in Rosamond around 6:30-7:00pm tomorrow, so I might stop by the track and dump off some stuff and setup a nice little pit area close to the classroom. If you don't get there really early on Sat then you end up a friggin mile down the pits! It would be cool if we could group the scoobies together in the cold pits... so maybe I'll spread my stuff over a couple spaces Friday evening to make room for you slackers Although I doubt I have enough stuff to save room for 6 cars so get there early or stop by Friday night!

See you guys at the track!
