Question Subaru short shifter noise

I was wondering if any body else has the subaru short shifter and if so do they hear any noises coming from it like a rattling/vibrating noise??? It goes away as soon as you put a little bit of pressure of the shifter lever and yes I checked twice to make sure everything was tight???

BAH! FINALLY! I'm not the only one. Darn that flapping noise! It becomes audible in 5th gear at around 4K RPMs. I am going to take out that bottom plate at the bottom of the shifter and cut away the part that rubs. Maybe this will help us...

The noise is not a flapping noise it sounds more like a syncro but I know that is not it because the car only has 3400 miles and made no noise till I installed it and it only does it in 5th gear also... Thanks I will have to look under the car to see if I notice any thing I installed it myself seeing that I ama mechanic although it is on airplanes that I work on...

Increased whine from the tranny during cruise is normal with a short shifter.

Which short shifter are you using?

Yup. I got the noise. I get the vib when accelerating too. If you push in on the handle it stops. Subaru installed it for me...

I have a SYMS shifter and linkage that does the same thing - the buzz goes away with light pressure on the shifter. Tightenting the screw didn't help. Not sure what I wanna do next...

Checked the bolt from the shifter to the linkage, tight. Any more ideas from anyone?

Seems like one of the only problems with an RS that can't be fixed yet...
