Post TL4B vs. 16G turbo questions

Can anyone tell me anything about the TL4B turbo vs. the 16G turbos? I think both are made by Garrett, and I am basically looking for something for an entry level kit - you know - just to get me going.

Do they totally suck or are either one of them decent enough to use to learn about turboing my car? Which would you pick?

Feel free to make any other recommendations for a turbo that is less than about $800 - I'd appreciate it.

Not sure about first one but 16G is 110% Mitsubishi turbo. It is pretty disently sized unit. Should be plenty for Subie.

Question: is a garret type turbo going to bolt right up to an IHI uppipe? I, personally, have my doubts... but I would like to know. Might possibly want to stay in the IHI family.

From my experience... no Garrett bolts directly up..

Not even all the IHI turbos do.. only the VF range as far a I can tell.
