Question Independent Subaru mechanic in DE/SE PA/NJ area?

I've been getting a little wary of SOA dealerships lately. Ever since they overpriced the work they did on some damage I did to my car about a month ago (nothing more than a bent control arm...and they charged me $1500?) I've decided that I wanted to go to an independent Subaru-specific place that has a good reputation.

Also, I'd probably be looking for this mechanic to install some performance parts, as well. Does anyone know where I could go?

RalliSpec and ILP have gotten good reviews.

Yeah, I forgot about them. Thanks!

Anyone maybe a little closer to home? I live in Wilmington, DE, and both of those are a ways away...

NINJA EDIT: Mapquest says that Rallispec is about 1 hr. away, and that ILP Performance is about 1.5 hrs away.

ILP is more like 2hrs from DE. Rallispec, being in Cherry hill area, should be closer then 1hr.

That being said, I don't think you'll find Rallispec doing any damage repair "mechanics" stuff anytime soon. They seem mostly to stay with big jobs and performance increasers. I must admit I haven't had them do anywork for me so I don't know that for sure.

ILP on the other hand is more then willing to do regular maintenance and stuff like that. Along with my coilovers, uppipe and brake work they did a stock clutch replacement in my '96L for about $300 cheaper then the dealership wanted.

Rallispec's not in Cherry Hill anymore. They moved to Hainesport.

Not that it matters but I said Cherry Hill area, Hainesport is like 10 - 15 miles from Cherry Hill, same area if you're talking to someone from Delaware. Just like ILP is in the Allentown AREA, like 10-15 miles from the Nazerath area but still it gives an idea about location.

I was really trying to point out that RalliSpec is closer then Mapquest indicated and ILP is farther, that's all. Just an opinion from someone who lived in the SJ area for 6 years and now lives in the Allentown area.

No prob, wasn't trying to be a pecker, just relaying some info.

Personally I have seen Rallispec's work and it is top notch, you just have to wait for them to get it done/get to you. It also seems tht they really only want/can deal with bigger jobs that are not mantaince based.

ILP was more then willing to do a stock cluch replacement on my beater. They got it done the day I dropped it off and I have never had a problem. Bonus: it was $300 cheaper then the dealer for the same part and work. To me worth a 2hr drive (not to mention my 20min one).

This guy seems to want a total relationship with a shop. I was weighing in with my vote on who of the two mentioned shops might better fullfill that.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice everyone.

I've dealt with ILP before when I bought my Stromung Catback system. They helped me out when the box was damaged en route to my house and replaced the gasket/bolts that were missing from the package. I was very impressed with the quality of their service.

So, I'll look into going to them for any future jobs that I need done. I'm guessing that will include a Borla header install sometime in the near future

What the hell? That's a mile from my house, but I've never heard of it. I'll have to stop by some time.

Cool!

Oh my god! Lol, that's also really close to me, too. Like a 10 min. drive.

Thanks!
