Talking Perrin UP,DP,IC hoses,crank pulley

<-- explains it all.

I can't really pick one individual piece out as I had all four Perrin pieces installed at once and then drove it afterwards, but the difference was HUGE. I have the stock boost gauge, and immediately noticed that the needles moves uber smoothly, as does the turbo spolling up. I think this can be attributed to IC hoses and the uppipe. The Perrin pipes are beautiful and create nice seals (with the Subaru OEM gaskets) with the exception of the bottom downpipe connection to the stock mid pipe. Because the Perrin DP is 3" and the stock is 2.125" IIRC, the seal is not perfect and I'm not sure if having the Subaru gasket (didnt have on at the time of install) would help any. If any of you are considering the Perrin DP, you might wanna save the headache of this minor matter and get a cat-back setup to install with it. Another thing to note is unless you cut your turbo heatshield, then you can say goodbye to it since It wont fit over the new twin dumping perrin DP. Also when you get to hold the stock pulley and the perrin pulley together, you can easily see where some power will be gained. A resistor was fitted into the EGT harness connection that used to go to the uppipe, although I was told it is uneccessary since CELs are rarely encountered here. One thing to note is that after getting it all installed, your car will REEK for about a week from the ceramic coating and cats burning in. All in all the Perrin pieces are incredible and thanks to Bob and Rich over at Precision Tuning in Brick,NJ for taking their time (they don't mess around, they make sure everything is perfect before turning over the keys!) and the man in Jets green, Nino, for the parts. I guess you could say I have a Perrin Stage 1 kit installed

the distinct turbo whine (much clearer now than stock) along with a beautiful boxer rumble.

Chris,

Did Bob and Rich cut the heat shield for you? Sucks that the dp doesn't mate up well with the stock cat back...I have a GReddy EVO, so it won't seem like much of an issue for me.

So this means that your only running one cat>?

I'm a little squeamish about changing my crank pulley...How much power would it add?

I'm still game for splitting cost for testing out emissions...If we can find someone that'll actually perform a sniffer and not send the results to Trenton.

As it stands....you'll soon have a copycat in your midst... well, except for the pulley and the uppipe (JDM baby!)

Glad to see that everything went well...now it's time for a REFLASH!

By all means. If you want to stop by sometime this week after one of your Mon. U. classes, let me know. I'll give you a ride so you can feel just how SMOOTH the car feels. All I can say is that its definitely a bit more of a drivers car then before. And once I get some engine management going, its gonna really roll. The heat shield is not a big concern as a bunch of folks leave it out. And besides, before the summer I'll be throwing an IC water sprayer into the mix to help keep those air molecules huddling for warmth. I'm considering getting the perrin shifter now just to round out the "Perrin-ness" of my car, and probably adding the Perrin rear sway bar and endlinks(unbelivable quality) before autoX season. Let me know if you want to stop by. I could use your help tommorow, since I need to fight a ticket

It went good, although install took close to 8 hours. The uppipe had some sort of flaw in the flange,so it took forever to bolt everything back up. They kept saying someone had the same uppipe and downpipe installed a few days before(i think maybe you?)and it was pretty much cake, but all in all, im happy with the parts.
