yeah yeah, im sure you all know already what an intake does, and there is nothing special about this thread or anything new...
I would just like to make some comments on this particular intake, mainly positive ones. Installation was easy enough, you just cut the hose it comes with (if not cut already) in a straight like line, and fit it inside the hole that the aluminum itake will go into. You can see this black tube in one of the pictures. It basically keeps the intake from rattling around in that area, although the newer intakes from Larry are made for a better fit, so i hear. The ONLY problem i have.. is the mount for the stock tubing near the strut tower is in the way slightly, and i scratched the intake trying to get it in there. My intake is below that, but i wanted it above it.. BUT, inorder to do that, it would bend my airbox way to far, and pull on it at the manifold. Performance? Well, i unplugged the battery as i put the Ganzflow in, plugged it back up when i was finished, and let the car idle for 15 minutes. I turned the car off and went in to warm myself up real quick like, went back out.. cranked it,, and to my surprise, it made a SLIGHT "thump/chunk" sound.. vibrating at the wheel well im sure. anyways, i backed up, and put it in first, gunned it, and OMG...the loudness!! me likey. I got on the road, and bounced it off redline in first and second, as that is what Larry recommends for the ecu resetting procedure. I continued to drive it like a man possesed for the next 3-5 miles.. not flying but just down gearing at lower speeds and going to redline alot. I got on the highway and opened to the end of third.. which is about 76 mph. then started to drive eco style. Funny, the first time i drove it, and it already had a very noticable power gain between 5-6k. The next day it wasnt near as loud. I feel this had to do with how long i let it idle the night before, which in turn the engine was very warm. All in all, i am more than pleased. One thing i noticed in certain 2nd gear turns is that before the intake, I would get neutral handling under acceleration, (38psi frnt and r.. front strut tower brace).. but now, i swear i can feel the rear oversteering the slightest bit. Keep in mind this is second gear.. so I am only going between 35-45 mph in this turn. Can an intake give you just that slight hp gain to pull an extra bit like that? It isnt drifting at all, just more like SLIGHT oversteer.. but i dont know.. i like the intake, that is all. ![]()

hey i just installed a red ganzflow; looks good!
question for you: did you have any light harnesses (or any electric harnesses) in the sidewell - what did you do with them; simply push them to the side? |

I didnt see anything like that in there... Seeing as how our RS's are two years apart (mine with more experience and knowledge than yours
) it may be that fact.. the year difference that is. |
