I did a search but couldn't find this.

Does a MY01 have an intake silencer? Is it in the fender as berfore or not?

Only the MT99's had the intake silencer in the fender. I believe that all the intake componenets are under the hood in MY01's and the filter is in the box at the TB.

Yes the 2001 has an intake silencer, it is located right next to the ABS control unit, inside the passenger side of the engine compartment. No real performance gains from removing it, but it does sound a little better. about a 5 minute uninstall with the right sockets.

Did mine a few weeks ago right before I got a Ganzflow CAI. There are 3 10mm bolts holding the whole intake (to the filter box) on. Taking the whole thing off makes it easier to remove the silencer. It just snaps off. It does sound a little nicer, but I noticed no preformance gain. If you want to modify your intake, get a Ganzflow. It's inexpensive, compared to others, and it sounds and preforms better than I could have imagined!

Thanks for the speedy replies. I am currently saving funds for my Ganzflow...I was just looking for something else to do while I wait. Damn Lotto people! Don't they realize I need some cash! The nerve of them huh?
