Hey Nick... It's Robert. Count me in. I was planning on stopping by your work tomorrow (tuesday). Will you be there? Did you get a change to talk to your neighbor about those parts? Later.

I might be interested depending on my schedule. I am reasonably mechanical and I'd like to get a better sense of how everything fits together in Subarus. Are you thinking early or late February?

KJR:

for the last 6 months i have been building a motor. its an ej22 closed deck with an ej25 crank. its being resleaved and bored to a 2.5 liter. the block is said to be virtually bulletproof. the heads were completely done by DPR (dan paramore racing). it has sti valves, and springs, and stock cams. it has power enterprise 800 cc injectors, sti tvg housings and the intake manifold is flipped.

( the motor was previously going to be a 2.35 but due to the new sti being a 2.5 i had to jump on the bandwagon.)

mca:

i am hoping for mid february but to be safe late fubruary.

It depends on when you are planning on doing it. I wouldn't mind seeing that beast in person.

KJR, I think it's a stroker. I forget what he decided on. Either a 2.2 (2.3??). I think....

edit.

looks like I was a little slow on that one.

eric m:

i dont know if you can bore a 2.0 to a 2.5. hmm, an ej22 and ej20 are essentially the same stroke but different bores.

but, i have the ej22 with the 2.5 phase 1 crank which strokes the ej22 to a 2.35 liter. then from that point the sleaves take into place. they are sleaves specifically for making the ej22 with ej25 crank a 2.5 liter. i am assuming if i was starting from ej20 and going to a 2.5 it would be much harder. i have personally heard the biggest you can go on an ej20 is 2.4.

It has always been my understanding that all the EJ-series 4-cylinders start from the same block and are bored to the desired dimension. From the 1.6L all the way to the 2.5L. It's a good question for the N/A forum.

dont think it'll be nice when we try to take off the bolts on the uppipe and it breaks.... you'll definitely need extra set of bolts and the RIGHT tools to do it.

Spend that $150-$250 to have a shop do it right. seriously...

Stealth-WRX, if you tell me the torque settings, I think I can manage. As long as there is somebody around that I can turn to if I get stuck, that's good for me. Unless of course, you want to offer your hand a different day.
