Hey Larry, what's the deal with your 98-99 intake whammy? I noticed that you said you'll not be offering the intake on your website. Please tell me that this is just a delay so that you can get the materials together...
I know alot of the early MY Imprezas are looking forward to your setup, I hope it can still happen. M.

The problem is that MY00-01 cars use a MAP sensor, while earlier cars use a MAF. The MAF sensor requires some sort of adapter collar to use an aftermarket intake and are also really sensitive to vibration. This is most likely why Larry is not making his (awesome) CAI for earlier cars.

He is trying, though. He had some problems with a couple of different machine shops that he had making the collar. I think one had the car the prototype was on stolen, and the other just basicly jerked Larry around and gave him nothing. Last I heard, he was still trying, though! Not that it will affect me, but the more people who can get a GanzFlow, the better!

From what I've read on this board (and in SCC), only the 99's have problems with the sensors and need an adapter. You can hook up an intake to a 98 RS without problems.
But if I'm wrong, please post a link to the thread that proves it. It's for research I'm doing... Thanks, -Chris |
