Question headlight mod?(not paint)

I've done a search for a headlight mod where the high and low beams will light up when I hit the highs. I didn't get any results.

Is there an easy way to do this without totally reworking the lighting harness? Would it be similar to the foglight mod? My 96L doesn't have the fogs anyway....I just want to use both beams when I hit the highbeams.

Thanks,
Jay Storm

If you run both high and low beams at the same time you will have the same problems with the stock wiring harness as other folks have had when running overwattage bulbs.

Read about it here.

I believe your car uses H4 bulbs for the headlights. These are dual-filament bulbs(high and low beam in the same bulb) and they are not designed for both filaments to be on continuously at the same time. This will burn them out quickly. And yes you will also be drawing too much power through the wiring.

I don't have a WRX with the wierd headlight connector problems. I have in the past run 85/100W bulbs with no problems other than the shorter lifespan. I have also installed a set of dual beam lights that are wired up seperately. Dual H7 bulbs on each side. Plus a relay to go into "citylight mode" when the HB is switched on and the main light is turned off. Both beams then light up at half power.

Is there a procedure for making the OEM lowbeam relay stay on when the OEM highbeam relay is triggered?

Thanks again.
