Default Problems with Morettes

I just bought these used (w/ PNP wiring) and put them on my car, but they're not working correctly. When I turn on the low beams, the outside lights turn on (I don't know whether those are the low beams or not). When I turn on the high beams, the indicator comes on but nothing happens. Weird thing is, the indicator stays on when I turn the car off, and when I turn it back on, I can't get the lights to work at all. The only way to turn the indicator off is to pull the negative off the battery. Also, I've yet to see the inside lights turn on at all aside from that little bulb in the corner of the light.

About the wiring - I connected the headlight adapters together. Then I connected the right headlight to the left via the longest wire, attaching the 4 plugs the only way they fit. Then I led the brown connector to the positive and the black to the negative.

I'm at a loss. A search thru NASIOC shows that my connections are correct, yet the lights are acting up. Any advice?

Oops-
The black wire, the one with the inline fuse, should be connected to the positive battery terminal. The brown wire is connected to the negative. Switch them around, and as long as everything else is correct your lights should work. Also check to be sure that the fuse isn't blown.
The outside lights are indeed the low beams, and the inside are the highs. The small bulb in the high beam housing is a "city light" that comes on with the parking lights.

OK, fixed.

You'd figure they'd color code the damn things.

So for DRL the outsides should be lit? LOL, if so I think I have had mine backwards for a while.

I thought I remember, (might've been even Mulder who mentioned it) that the DRLs and morettes in general don't always work well together, hence people recommending to disable them. Anyway, the outside ones should be lit as those would technically be the low beams, but again, it's low-wattage, and I'm not sure those standard bulbs are designed to take the low-wattage - I know for a fact that the HIDs should CERTAINLY never experience the low-wattage of DRLs.

I have a problem with my Morettes. I installed them last summer and had no problems with them until recently. Just like the original poster, I have low beams, and when I switch them to high beams, nothing changes except my fog lights get turned off, which is normal operation. What should I look for since they used to work? It's dark right now and didn't get around to checking plugs, but it looks like I'm going to remove them soon and take a look. Any ideas?

MY DRLs work just fine, had mine for over a year now. Yeah, the wire colors are messed. Mulder's right as rain.

This is how my lights function:

DRL - Outer housing lit dimly
Low beam - Outer housing lit brightly, fogs optional
High beam - Outer housing lit brightly, inner housing lit, fogs off

Right?

Dr Nick-
Check the wiring to your lights, the low and high beam connections to the factory harnesses are probably reversed. If you have plug-in harnesses that came with the lights they may have been made incorrectly, this is somewhat common and I have seen it happen before.
cwb- first thing to check is the fuse by the battery that goes to the Morettes, this is the power for the high beams. If it is blown that is your problem. Not sure why it would blow since it's a 15A fuse, unless you are using high-wattage bulbs.
