Default The answer to the STi - WRX spoiler swap question...

I just came home from the auto show in Portland, and they had the STi there.. I talked the Subaru rep into opening the trunk so I could take pictures of the mounting for the rear spoiler and compare it to the WRX...

Here's the 2004 STi trunk lid:

Here's the 2004 WRX trunk lid:

As you can see, the trunk lids are the same, but the STi has 6 more bolts that hold the rear spoiler on, probably due to it's size...

So if you wanted to swap with the regular WRX spoiler, you'd either have to fill the holes on the STi's trunk lid, or swap the entire trunk lid and spoiler with a WRX of the same color...

So there you have it... there's the answer.

I took about 75 pics of the STi while I was there... as well as pics of the new WRX, and the EVO8.

Sure, no problem...

I have tons of pics of the STi, it's just gonna take me a little time to go through them all..

I also took some pics of things people haven't posted yet... I bugged the hell out of the Subaru reps... Got pics of the interior from both sides of the car, and even pictures of the BACK seat area.

They're posted now..

Very nice! Not what I was hoping (was hoping they were the same), but at least this seems to settle the question. Eagerly awaiting the rest of your pics!

DUDE! What the hell? I went to the L.A. Auto Show and we got NOTHING! No STi, not even pictures or any brochures! The L.A. Auto Show blows goats!

Thanks for sharing the pictures. Looks like the trunk swap would be the only option, if they don't offer a factory wing reduce/delete.

Here's the rest if you wanna see them:
http://pics.endlesstravels.com/Cars/Subaru/2004STi.htm

Personally, after seeing it in person, I've decided not to remove the big spoiler. It looks a lot nicer when it's right there in front of you. I'm gonna keep the gold wheels, too. I thought the car looked awesome as is. Looked like it was going about 120 mph when it was standing still.

I figure the stock wing looks good into in person that it's not worth the $500-600 it would cost, and the hassle of changing it.

I hope I feel the same way after seeing it in person.

Do you have any more pics of the regular 04 WRX?

No, I wasn't... I was only there on Saturday. I'm in Seattle, and drove down to Portland after I heard the STi was going to be shown there. I had to see it.
