Talking Mirror Swapping (heated/non)

okay guys... many of u know...
i have the heated mirrors on my rally wrx wagon project car.
one of the mirrors was severly damaged in a fire...

and a new heated mirror cost 3x what the USA non heated mirror cost... so... i got the USA spec mirror... and pal Mike and I swapped it onto the car...

the harnesses are very different:

basically what we did was remove all of the wiring from the harness connector attached to the canadian mirror -

stripped the USA spec harness adapter off of the wires
then fit the canadian harness end to the USA mirror, and plugged it in... worked perfectly!!

in order to reverse this process...you would swap the connectors as shown and then additionally you'd want to tap into the defrost as that's what controls the "heated" bit of the mirror, run a ground wire - and you're done.

all the pix (more of them) are on www.subiegalracing.com
follow link from the photo update table to "wagon progresses" link....

hope this helps.
