Default Factory alarm and side blinker help

I recently got my 02' WRX back after it was in an accident. After I got it back I noticed a few electrical problems. The lights(front and rear) do not flash when arming or disarming the alarm. The side blinkers light up, but do not flash when I turn my signal on. Lastly, a "red" security light flashes constantly while the car is just sitting there. I remember then norm was when it flashed "yellow" every once in a while while the alarm was on. I took my car back to the body shop, who in turn took it to the subaru dealer and an independent shop. They all said that this was normal, and that everything is fine. For some reason, I don't remember the car working like this. Any help or suggestions?

If the security light is flashing without the alarm being armed, the system is in valet mode. Check the security system manual that should be in your glovebox, it has instructions for turning valet mode on or off. This is probably also why the lights don't flash when you lock/unlock the car.
If, after cancelling the valet mode, things still don't work as they should then another trip to the dealer is in order.
There is only one security light and it is red, there is no yellow light associated with the security system.
The side marker lights in the front are parking lights only, they do not flash with the turn signals.

Thanks for the info. I'll try that out and see what happens. Did you, or anyone come across this problem before?

It's not really a "problem", just accidental activation of valet mode. If you aren't aware of what is happening it appears like something is broken. This does happen somewhat regularly, about once a week or so someone posts with the same question.

Thanks mulder, it was in valet mode. I guess the body shop must have accidentally changed modes when they were working on the car. What I don't get, is how could the dealer not figure out what was going on.

easy,

the dealer's are stupid.

i asked the front man for service what type of security package I was getting with the upgrade that HE called me in for and he told me that he doesn't know what's going to happen to my car. I also told him that my alignment was off. He asked me , " how do you know that your alignment is off? " fuggin dumb fux. don't ever go to subaru in culver city.

They most likely took it to the one in Culver City, since the body shop is just down the street from them. I know now not to ever take my car there...
