Default UPDATE - Head Gasket? or maybe...

Burst radiator? could a leak cause the same symptoms? (full puke tank, no coolant) I was refilling/checking the radiator, when I realized that the water level was dropping as I was filling - and there was water coming out somwhere where the aluminum section meets the plastic tank at the bottom. So I hope that's it - how much is an Impreza radiator (anybody have a spare)? I pulled the radiator out and with the exit plugged, I blew into the neck (cleaned, of course), and I can hear "Squeeeeeee" from a couple of places. I'm assuming that the radiator is normally airtight. Might I be less screwed?

Jeez, I hope so! It's gotta be a lot cheaper than redoing a head gasket.

**fingers crossed**

Default Good news so far

I tried Bar's Heavy Duty Stop Leak, and on a regular commute (keep in mind it was as cold as a witch's) I kept a full load of coolant, which was under pressure when I checked it about 20min after getting to work. So I hope that's that. If you ever have radiator probs, vis-a-vis structural integreity, try the Bar's in the bottle. I got the one made for larger leaks, which comes as a liquid with big granules that all gets poured in, the granules dissolve, and do their magic. It's worked for me at least in the short term.

PS if anybody wants to buy 10gal of distiled water, let me know.

When you're sure you don't need it, have Lisa bring it in and I'll pay you whatever you paid for it.
Got a bunch of houseplants and irons to feed...
