Default Bohmen vs. McCulloch HID kits

They appear to be the exact same thing, just labeled differently, even the warranty's read the exact same...and the Bohmen are about $100 cheaper than the cheapest mcculloch kit i've found online...

h4 hi/lo $599 (with wings!! )
h4 low $399

Bohmen are at www.proxenon.com
McCulloch are in the nasioc store(i have found them for +/-$480 at other vendors)

Anyone had experience first hand with the Bohmen product?

Yeah I was looking and found the Bohmen as well. They really do seem like the same product.

I'm in the market for some HID's and I'm going to go with one or the other. I still think I'm leaning towards the McCullochs but I can't justify why I'm leaning that way

So I second your question!~

EDIT! wait a minute theres a HI/low kit available!!!?>???

and here is the story from proxenon.com on why they look so similiar....

----------------------------
A little back ground history...

1 1/2 years ago, McCulloch Corp demerged into two corporations. And a Taiwanese manufacturer bought off the their main factory in Taiwan, and gained control of the Main Office in the USA. The main tech lab in Germany, now Bohmen Lighting Tech, separated from the current McCulloch Corp. Because of this you will see the two brands of HID look very similar.

1) Our's are 100% German HID products, BOHMEN HID and Accessories.
2) The "G-Garage HID", use the same technology, but they are
manufactured in TAIWAN.

Therefore, McCulloch HID does not exist anymore.

Thumbs up mcculloch-G-garage

Well, just wanted to voice my opinion. I honestly can't tell you how well the McCulloch USA (G-garage USA is the company that distributes them) HIDs work in comparison to any other HID kits, since I haven't been able to compare them with any others using the same type of headlight (JDM projectors).

However, I CAN tell you that G-Garage's customer service is PHENOMENAL. No joke, they will bend over backwards to help you out with any problems that you have. Forget about that measly 30 day bulb warranty they claim---they will help you out even months afterwards if you have a problem! This is probably not always the case, but they have been very willing to answer my questions and help me thru the installation process the entire way. Very patient, very competent people. Big thumbs up!

holy crap...just got them today...talk about a wiring harness, since i got the hi/low kit i got this massive harness for the controller and lights...looks like all the power will be coming from the battery and not my existing system which is nice(thanks to subaru's inconsistent power during start up)...the bulbs appear to already have been burned in(which is good)...all the connectors fit very snug, ballasts and igniters appear to be just like the mccullochs only labeled differently, they are gen 3's...the only issue i had was the instructions were in english and japanese and yet the ballasts are made in germany...just seemed odd, so maybe the bulbs are made in japan...but until i get time to install them, that's all i have for ya...

Well i got my lights installed today...had to do absolutely nothing but plug in the plugs/+ cable/- cable /12v controller and secure it all down...The Proxenon 6000k = 4300k but i love it, so the kelvin scale on their website is off accordingly...Found out that since i have wings i also have a generic d2s based bulb? which fits in the base of the solenoid and could make for cheaper "non-mcculloch/bohmen" bulb replacements(which i hope is never!)...the entire low beam pattern is bright, frickin awesome, i'm in love, but i have yet to really drive at night without street lights. So far no one has flashed me, yet if they did, a flick of my high beams would dramatically state "yes i had my low beams on" to an oncoming car. However the main "wing" brace phohibits the entire arc from striking the main high beam reflectors in the headlamp and the high's aren't a truly dramatic change as i had hoped. A lot of light is bounced off the side mirrors allowing the side trees and especially signs to reflect back however.

HID is truly a wonderful driving addition. I now know why new HID owners say "i can't believe i drove without them," it's so true. I laugh when i look at my h3 'piaa xtreme' halogens in the fogs, they look brown by comparison...I also have c-west eyelids and i needed to change my corner bulb back to orange for legal "looking" reasons. So after removing my eyelids i placed them on and off my lights a few times to see the beam pattern. They don't cut anything out from the beam, yet i noticed an extreme reduction in glare firing eyeward as if i was an oncoming car. So for those who have hid's and no eyelids, get em!. Plus the car just looks more angry with them. I will get my buddies digicam and take some pictures soon...so far i am 100% satisfied with my purchase, especially after being ordered on tuesday night and being on my door by friday, just in time for the weekend install.

~Peace

Avoid Proxenon. They have a tendency to rip people off. They took over 2 months to ship my kit. They gave me the runaround until I finally threatened to call the cops. A quick search on other forums found that they pull this stunt all the time.

They have a very bad record with the Better Business Bureau:

Go and check it out before they scam you too!

www.HID-online.com or www.xenonfactory.com or www.xenondepot.com
McCulloch have high failure rates
You want to get a philips ballast- easier to replace down the road since HID is illegal. Alot of companies are using cheap rebased bulbs and homeade ballasts. The companies above use 100% Philips and some give warranties. Check out www.hidforum.com for more hid concerns

So far, I have bought total six kits from them... none of them went wrong and all of them received promptly.. my friend who got the Proxenon kit for two year, one of the ballast went bad, they even took care him under the warranty (Free Replacement) And plus when I check BBB just like you've said, their record is really good and high score rated too:

The last time I check their records on BBB, their score is "A"

Maybe you have your own experiences.... but so far I have no problem with them at all. And I can get a full kit from them for just $300 now!
