Talking Modern Racer's Review!

Their "Cons" are funny!!

http://modernracer.com/history/subar...tihistory.html

I am however having a hard time understanding why they would consider Dodge's Neon SRT-4 a competitor...

at a local car show, no names, but i chatted w/a great guy from subaru, had real limited knowledge on the backround.......said a pretty similar thing, and I jumped in and corrected him, Subaru technica international, and instead of being angry or what not that i corrected him, he was happy, and wanted to know more on what i knew of the sti backround........great man, made a friend at SOA

From what I've heard the standard version of the SRT-4 does 0-60 in 5.8 seconds. Certainly not a competitor for the STi, but there is a Mopar Stage 3 upgrade covered under warranty that bumps the SRT-4 up to 300HP.

- tim

edit: according to this site 0-60 is 5.6 seconds on the 215HP version.

It would be hard to get a decent 0-60 with that much power to the front wheels... Of course, it will make up for it at the high end.

To the left of this data it stated it was for the 2001-2002 Japanese 280hp version of the STi.

Although the numbers are estimated, its still impressive to say the less.

Looking forward to the real world testing results!

I did not get a single one.
I recommend to download and run ad-aware ( http://www.lavasoft.nu/index.html ) and run a full scan.

I think 0.99g for EVO is not less impressive.

Interesting....the Lancer's weight is 3263 lbs. I thought the STi was supposed to be quite a bit heavier?

Just like the Subaru WRC car, it should take two guys to pilot the Neon SRT-4. Not a navigator, but more like a buddy to hold on to the wheel to try and offset the insane amount of torque steer. That will be plain nuts. I wonder how they are dealing with that.

Oh yeah, and why do wo have to talk about the neons, I heard enough of that when I bought my bugeye WRX

In Japan maybe (although I don't know) but the STi's weight hasn't been released. I know that the MY03 JDM (our MY04) has cut weight compared to the bug-eyed WRXs so that definatley gives some hope in the weight department for us

I think this is just a rumor started by EVO fanboys to try to make up for the power and chassis deficit of the EVO.
The STi has actually always been considerably lighter than the EVO over the course of the 2 cars life.

if that is the correct data for the JDM STi then I am stoked, our will prolly be a tad faster :P
