im a big guy, 6'9" 270lbs, I have a Boxster S and I fit "OK". I use that as my track car so comfort isnt a big deal. But I am thinking about the new WRX STi as a daily driver. However, will I fit behind the wheel? Ive never been in a SCooby before so im asking. Are there any other tall guys out there that fit? If so, did you have to modify the seat /rails or anything to be comfy?
TIA

Go sit in a WRX. Should be a good test.

I'm 6'10", but you outweigh me by over 50 lbs, so my experiences might not be accurate. Assuming the standard WRX fits the same as an STi, my experience has been that they're pretty roomy, assuming you don't have a sunroof. Headroom is pretty good, although I confess that I'd probably take the seat out and remove a little foam from underneath to get an extra half inch or so. Legroom isn't exactly stellar. It'd be nice if the tracks went back an extra inch or so, but then they'd need to make the steering column fore-and-aft adjustable or it'd be too far away. I already wish it were a tad closer. There's pretty decent room in the footwell for large feet, though you may not have that problem.
Hope that helps some Jeff |

I'm not nearly as tall as that, but I can say that one way of getting around the "high-ish" seating positions of Subes (I just like to sit lower) is to just yank the std pew out and replace it with a good driver's seat - Recaro or whatever works for you.
You can get lots more headroom from that, just make sure the seat rail is not a cheapo one (not good for safety, and sometimes not rigid enough = flexy). HTH |

I'm 6'5" 250lb and have no trouble but you might have issues wearing a helmet.

and dont forget the option of removing the sliding brackets and replacing them with fixed brackets. (like what race buckets use)
This will drop the seat height by several inches, and give you much more headroom, as well as allow you to move the seat back as far as you need for legroom. |

I'm 6'5" and I sit with my seat about halfway up. I guess I'm just weird, but I feel much more in control closer up. I hate it when people drive my car and first thing they do is put the seat ALL THE WAY BACK. And most of 'em are shorter than me.
