The more I look at the photos of the new cars, the more I think I prefer the looks of the much maligned bug eyed WRXs. I don't think it's just because I have a WRX and am trying to rationalize my purchase. I've already decided to keep the WRX because I like it so much. While none of these cars are particularly good looking, it seems like the bug eyed cars were a clean sheet revision from the first generation Imprezas, but the new cars are kinda cobbled together. They appear front heavy and more generic, especially in the front. I expect most people will disagree, and I admit I haven't seen the new cars in the flesh.

Default bug-eyi sti!!

I actually agree with you. I don't have a WRX, but the bug-eye definitely grew on me.

In fact, I wish we would have gotten 1 year of the bug-eye STi. That would have been a slam-dunk for me. I really do like that design better. But, in the end, I know I'll be happy with whatever I end up with.

What's kinda tempting now is to just pick a bug-eye WRX up at well below invoice, and at .9% financing to boot.

The bugeye look really grew on me. I like it very much now.

I imagine the new-new look will also grow on me, so I am going to reserve judgement for now. Although as of right now, it looks a little too cookie-cutter, like everything else out there. The nice thing about the bugeye was how distinctive the look is.

After seeing the new look in person, I think I would have to disagree there. The pictures don't really do it justice. The new STi looks awesome.... I prefer that look over the bug eye.

I think the new headlights look great on the sedan, but the wagon looked better with the bugeyes.

the new one is more pleasing to the eye. I predict a sales increase across the globe now that Subaru has redeemed itself in the frontal area.

Interesting results so far on the poll. Maybe we should run it again in a year when the new cars are out and folks have had a chance to see and compare in real life. I will say I've grown fond of the looks of the bug-eyed and prefer it to the older cars, which look dated to me. I may feel the same way with the new cars and the bug eyed cars too, although I don't much like the new look on the new WRX. The STI looks better balanced and just plain wild all around---seems to fit the character of the no-compromise machine it is.

Even with the restyle, I think the auto critic's that work for major auto mag's wont like it as much as the bug eye'd
