Post Has Anyone replaced stock to STi V5 Spring/Strut on FWD

Well... sadly I own a front wheel drive, but I am a college student, so thats my excuse. But, I need a need set of suspension becuase the one on my 93 FWD is too soft. I saw that subabruparts.com sell the STi suspension on the web, but I am wondering if it will bolt on the same way as all other Imprezas (especially AWDs), I don't want to get stuck with useless STi equipment as decor Thanks.

Sorry, everything is completely compatible except for the 2 rear struts. FWD and AWD use different rear hub assemblies, therefore the lower mounting bolts on the strut of the AWD is a shorter distance. I can tell you that the AWD ones will bolt onto the rear of the FWD, but that would not be good because your rear end would sag, I think it is 4"-6" of a sag.

Sorry, I shoud have put this on my last reply. I can recommend that unless in the near future you convert to AWD, you can use my setup. This is 4 KYB GR2 struts for FWD Impreza's, and your choice of springs. I have Eibach for my springs. It has extrememly good handling. Better that stock brand new RS's. Except for the oversteering part. But I have corrected that with a 20mm rear bar for gravel, dirt. A 22mm rear bar for fast road, or use the 20mm for normal city driving although my normal city driving requires the 22mm bar, I drive aggressivley. In the future, I plan to put the Whiteline ALK on it. With the rear sway bars though, totally different car. Tottaly gets rid of oversteer. My car is extremebly neutral. On dirt, gravel, if the rear end swings out, gun it and it just grabs!

It is a real good setup for the FWD.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Max for your great advice, I think I will go with the KYB FWD shox with the STi V.5 Springs. I also purchased the 20mm FHI Rear Sway recently, but since I have a FWD, I also need the bush mountings which I didnt get yet. Thanks again!

p.s. Where should I start looking to find a good deal on the KYB GR2 FWD anyways? I only know subaruparts.com mainly... :|

Before you put the rear sway bar on. You will need to get the rear lateral links also. I had problems with mine. These rear lateral links have the brackets for the rear sway bar to mount to the endlinks. I couldn't find any for the FWD, so I bought 2 used AWD rear lateral links ($20.00), used a hacksaw and cut the brackets off. Keeping them together and measured right. Welded them onto the stock rear lateral links. If you know anybody in the military active duty they can get a hoist, welder, and all the tools you need plus installation for less than $5.00 dollars. I am stationed on USMC Air Station Cherry Point in North Carolina. If you live around here I'd be more than happy to do it for you. They use MIG weld, not that crappy stick welding crap.

If you look around or make another post there may be FWD rear lateral links. I'm not sure though. I am saving my AWD ones so when I convert I will still have them.

Like I said though it is a totally different machine though when you put that rear sway bar on. I got my KYB GR2 at Advance Auto (sorta like Auto Zone), I paid like $315.00 dollars all around.

Hope this helps man!
