what does
hey guys after swaping in a 6sp from a auto

Did you put a 6spd gearbox in an auto WRX?

and doing this you had to change the engine harness and now the ECU is not seeing the MAF input?

Is the MAF you swapped it with a known good MAF?

Post yes

sorry!! i hate to write to... 1. i did swap a 6speed into a auto car it ran fine. just had a high idle. so we changed out the wiring harness & ecu so it will be right!!! it ran great on the auto ecu. but when it was swaped out it ran fine till it warmed up it will die!!!
ie:going from closed loop to open{hot/usein sensers}. right now it will run fine without the MAF senser pluged in.but if u plug it in it will go rich and DIE.2.we have tried a MAF senser from another car same problem. traced all wirers they are going to all the right places. can't think of anything that will cause it to be this way. steve. and to answer your ??? 1. yes. 2.no. but we did. and it knows its there.it just makes the car die{runs rich} 3. yes it is good{put on other car and it ran fine.

Lets clear some thing out.

Close loop is when the engine is warm and open loop is when the engine is cold.

You need more information.

What are the differences between the auto and manual harnesses, sensors and computer?

Are the engines (cars) the same year?

If they are not....you may well be better off with the auto setup, as that computer should run your engine just fine. Figure out what auto signals are different. Sure, there's the interlock for starting, which can easily be defeated, but is there anything else? Speed sensor? If so, it might not be needed. I think your problem is that you swapped out the harness and computer to a setup not matched to your engine.

Another way around....if you don't want to swap back....is to remove ALL the sensors that were on the manual car's engine/tranny and install them into your engine and harness. If there's a difference in sensors, this will take care of that. I've done exactly that on another car (ford)....only a bit more radically, swapping engines/intake system/ computer. Runs fine.
