Unhappy disappointed about STi....

Why cant we get the same exact seats as the overseas models?

I was staring and drooling over pics of the 04 STi and spotted how the front seats look like standard wrx seats with a little more bolstering and shoulder padding.

They are not recessed like the previous STi seats... What gives?

Otherwise the car is a bad ACE!

Because the JDM seats are smaller, thinner, for small-framed Japanese. It would be uncomfortable for 95% of the US market.

And I'm not just talking about "overweight" Americans here. I've talked to thin people who have sat in the JDM seats for a while and they felt very uncomfortable in them after a while.

So my point is you should be glad. I do think they could have done a tad more side bolstering, but still, be glad we don't get the exact JDM seats

ACTUALLY, I had 1999 wrx JDM STi Seats in my car for over a year and they never got uncomfortable. That is why I am disappointed. (I sold my seats cuz I am selling my RS soon).

So my point is, I am not glad , IF I buy a STi, I am selling the stock seats for something aftermarket or the 2003 STi blue seats.

There are ALOT of people who have ridden/sat in my car and liked the seats (2pt5rs, mpaone, countless others at meets etc...).

I wonder how soft the sti is going to ride . Again a watered down car...

Where'd that come from? Nothing, aside from possibly the seats, is "watered down".... at least, nothing that I've found.

I have a JDM V.4 driver's seat, am 6' 180lbs and it fits wonderfully. I've driven 2000mi+ in it on trips too, always feels great to me.

The seats as they currently look on the US STI seems to suck.

The JDM seats which are more supportive is a whole lot better. Much more support and more comfortable. Would you want to slide around in the fat US seat when doing a turn??

I hope Subaru changes the US seats to the JDM seats. Bigger sized people shouldnt have a problem too as the Europeans are the same.

If you end up getting an STi, just buy JDM seats if it bothers you that much.

Not difficult, but expensive. They should bolt right in and I'm sure someone will want your seats. Don't expect to come out with money in your pocket though. Nice JDM seats tend to be at least $1200 a pair.

Uhm, they might void the seat warranty. But ... when's the last time you ever took a car in for a warranty issue on the seat?

Yea that is utterly dumb...it takes ALOT to void a warranty.

And yes it would bother me THAT much , when I am racing, I dont like to slide around in the seat....Thats the last thing I want.

Last time I noticed, the SCCA sanctioned autocrosses, dont void your warranty.

The only real way to hurt your car is to lauch it super hard. Or hit a pole...

Money he will recoup by selling his perfectly good OEM seats that he decided he doesn't like before ever sitting in them.

I agree with Justin and others on this one. I've ridden in Mikey's car (mpaone) as well as a few others with jdm sti seats and I REALLY REALLY loved them and found them very comfortable. FYI, I'm 5'8" 200lbs. (mostly muscle... ).

Otherwise, the new STi sounds like it'll be a beast.

I sat in the 04 WRX at the baltimore auto show, and if the STi seats feel the same, I'll be happy. They were great seats.

So to solve the problem, where are some of the places where you guys have purchased the JDM Sti seats? Price would help, too.

If your looking for the extra side bolstering to grab onto your body for hard cornering why dont you just get a cheaper, more comfortable aftermarket seats? If your racing it, all you need is one drivers side seat..

Like Corbeau Pro/Sport seats....

Just a thought....
