Default Rally Sprint Championship - series for new drivers!!

California Rally Series has announced a Rallysprint Championship Series - in response to Rallycross competitors wanted to get into Rally but are put off by the cost and logistics involved in Stage Rally.
Preping a car for Rallysprint is as simple as adding a cage/seat/belts. A beater starter Rally car would alsowork well. Unlike rally you do not need a co-driver or service crew. Rally Sprint is easier on the car. The majority of the events will be held at small venues running on a 1/2 mile stage , with the exception of Las Vegas. Las Vegas will be using a 6 mile graded gravel road. the Santa Maria Round will be at the local dirt track and Tombstone Paintball Park in Corona will run two events!!! I would expect to spend about $200-$300 per Sprint vs the $600-$1000 per Stage Rally. Go to Californiarallyseries.com for schedule info

Whoa.......$200-$300 to run at Tombstone or in a mud parking lot.....ouch. There had better be some big ass trophies/contingencies involved for that cost.

Default Sprint -Not cross

Ok let me clarify this; the "Sprint" is NOT run in the parking lot at Tombstone. The course is .6 of a mile and runs around the war fields. On the back section it is possible to get the slowest of stock class cars going close to 60 before plunging into the gravity cavity - many a passenger has gone though there saucer eyed!!
Friday night of Treeline Rally a Tarmac Rallysprint known as Tarline is planned on a 7 mile section of pavement.
As I said earlier our road in Vegas is over 6 miles of county maintained gravel road , we will be giving comeptitors 21 miles worth of runs for$150
Santa Maria Speedway is a 1/4 mile dirt track with some infield as well , this should be glass smooth also.
Laughlin/ Ramada Express is comtemplating using there Super Special Stage as a Sprint the same weekend as the Ramada Rally .
The whole idea is to get people a step between Rallycross and Stage Rally. Also it gives Rally drivers a chance to take some time away from the expense of Stage Rally and still run for a Championship
This is going to be really cool - I've personally wanted to run a Rally for a long time but my comittment to Vintage Road Racing prevents doing a full Rally. I will be running my Road Race car at Tarline and Santa Maria. If there is a sprint at Laughlin I'll try that as well.Of course I would run the Vegas event but since I'm organizing it that wouldn't work.

Thumbs up

My dad's in the process of buying an old Mini. I'll make sure it gets a cage installed.

For those of you who drove up to the Treeline Rally two years ago ... I think the Tarline rallysprint will be using THAT road ... you know the one.

Default I'm not telling

I'm not telling where the road is - at least right now but it is not behind the dry lake bed. Anyway if you want details on Sprint rules or our event call me 702-453-2699.
