Default In-cabin air filter

Does anyone know which legacy model years, if any, have a cabin air filter? I'm wondering if I should be poking around the glove box, for mine...

My 01 does. Do you have an owner's manual to check? It is an optional install part so not all will have it, even in a year that could. I think the only part involved is the filter itself.

ok, i thought i had put everything back together as i had taken it out. well i was driving around with a chick, and she was like oh its so hot. i was like hmm " she wants me" then i felt the air vent and it was hot. the ac makes it cold, but just havving the vent on makes it hot. so i think i might have the dealter change the filter.

I'm very interested in this and have been trying to locate an OEM filter system for the 98 GTs and the 99 Wagon. I've called two different dealerships, checked out subaruparts.com and 1stsubaruparts.com for any possible "kits" but with no joy.

My 01 Forester S has at least one filter that has two snap locks (like those on your engine intake air filter box) that are located at the very bottom of the HVAC ducting, just to the left of the blower motor (all below the glove box). The two snaps pop off, the door swings down and there's a grab tab located on the bottom of the filter to pull it free. Replacement is just the opposite. If there's a second filter, I didn't find it. The door is a very heavy item, with a solid piece of rubber (~1/2" thick) that seals against the bottom of the HVAC duct.

Keep us informed because this is one item that I'd like to install if it's available.

Any news to offer on your filter purchase/installation? Particularly looking for any Part #'s and installation locations/instructions. TIA.
