Post STi Interior POLL. Attn. Subaru

Just a quick opinion poll:

It sounds like Subaru is going to offer 2 wheel colors for the STi. Now, the question is will Subaru offer different interiors for the STi.

The poll is:

Should Subaru offer a gray interior option (like the 2004 WRX interior) in addition to the (assumed) standard Blue interior for the STi?

...keep in mind, it's not what color you prefer, but should Subaru *offer* an interior color other than the blue interior we have all seen.
  • No. Subaru should not offer an interior color other than the blue one we have seen.
  • Yes. Subaru should offer an interior color other than the blue.

Subaru has never offered interior choices (at least in current models)

Btw, I never once heard a complaint about the black/blue seats when the WRX came out... why all the complaints now?

More choices = higher costs.

It'd be cool to be able to choose but it's no big deal if not

Exactly, if Subaru wants to compete against the Evo in price, they need to keep options down to a minimum.

I don't expect color a color choice but I would like one, But if not that is fine too. I am just happy to be getting the STi. And if one color makes it cheaper that is even better.
The STi has no history at all here in the USA, so really they are writting the history now. I am not a fan of the "STi rally color debate"
Also, I think the reason we are getting the 2.5ltr is because americans (the majority anyway) don't care about the car's rally history. But we are very happy to benenifit from rally racings technologies. (I know I am)

Actually, I think the interior looks much better in person than it does in the pictures. Some other performance oriented cars, like the Audi S4, have a similar blue/black interior scheme. I think the pictures are a little lighter than the actual blue looks in person.

And, I think the gold wheels look much better in person than in pictures, they're more of a bronzeish dark gold. I think they will look pretty good on all colors but silver. I also think the wing looks better in person, but still too big for my taste.

The new WRX interior is pretty nice, and so far, it looks like the interiors will be distributed by model, not by color. If you don't like the colors, the carpeting should be pretty cheap to replace, and some leather or performance suede seat covers on a group buy might be the way to go to make your STi perfect.

Default Just a poll...

Really, this isn't meant as an "STi color debate" nor a complaint...it's just a poll (yes or no, if you don't care, then that would be a "no" it's not necessary ) to see if anyone is interested in other color options. Just curious. After all, this is a forum for discussion. I just figured a poll would be easier to see the results of.

...and the "Attn. Subaru" was just in case any regional reps. do a search...I've seen others us it also. ...and yes, the regional rep. in Texas does visit this forum.

BTW, cost may not be an issue to Subaru...it just depends at what point in the assembly the interior is done. They would most likely run the STi through the WRX interior lines for another (gray) color option. If they use a just in time manufacturing process, they would just feed one interior color or another to the assembly line workers as the car moves up the line.

I work in the automotive industry, and my view of cars, like most of the industry is as a product. Of course companies like customers to be happy...that's what sells cars. Trust me, they aren't doing it because they just want to see happy people.

I think the interior looks sweet. Wouldn't change a damn thing about it.

Unfortunately, Subaru has seemed to have had a nasty habit of matching certain interior/exterior colors for each trim level of a particular model. "Oh, you want this trim level/color... then this is your interior fabric/color." No questions. That's it.

As to this poll: Would I like to have a choice on interior color? Sure. Will it keep me from buying if they don't? Nope.

robmarch: Thanks for posting your impressions from seeing it first-hand. Lucky bastard...

Sorry to thread-jack, but the people responding and replying to your thread actually bump it and keep it from disappearing. Replying to the poll doesn't bump it to the top, as far as I am aware.

ps...I voted for more options. More options are always better It's already a pretty expensive car, having 2 interior choices, 2 wing choices, and 2 rim colors can't hurt them too bad on cars that will mostly be presold orders anyway.

I'd even vote for an all season ultra performance tire option...not stock, just the option.
