Default Forester Turbo, Impreza TS, Outback Sport to debut at CIAS

The Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto will have the following 2004 Subarus on display:
Impreza WRX STi
Impreza WRX
Impreza TS
Outback Sport
Forester Turbo

Manufacturers' presentations to the media begin tomorrow, Feb 12 and continue on the 13th, so we should learn some details about these models very soon.

The show opens to the public on Feb 14 and if you attend and live in Ontario, make sure you check out the Sunoco booth, on the same floor as the Subaru display, but near the Skydome skyway exit. Why? Sunoco will be giving away a 2004 WRX to some lucky person who stopped at their booth and signed up for the drawing.
P.S. On second thought, don't bother with the Sunoco booth - you can enter the 2004 WRX drawing online at http://www.sunoco.ca/content.asp?id=161

very cool.

The Forester Turbo will be a great addition to the lineup and will help the Subaru brand. It's such a classy looking car, finally it'll have an engine to match it's looks.

Jon, Thanx for the info. Having owned two Foresters, I'm hoping to be as surprised by the Forester turbo's announcement as I was the STI's. Keep us posted. Richard

Not only that, but ya gotta have mad math skillz!!

From the rules:

In order to be declared the winner, the selected entrant must correctly answer a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question by phone or by mail.

...uh, I'll take my time-limited question by mail, please...

The math question makes it a contest of skill (legal) instead of a contest based solely on chance (lottery = illegal). I'm guessing the "mathematical skill-testing question" is on the easy side of the mathematics skill spectrum (think arithmetic).

The CIAS coverage website is now active:
http://autoshow.en.msn.ca/autoshow20...aspx?date=main

It looks like Subaru's presentation will be one of the last given today (4:20 PM?) according to http://autoshow.en.msn.ca/autoshow20...x?xml=schedule

Thanks for clearing that up, Jon.

As for the Forester turbo being auto only, I would certainly hope not. Thankfully, not a long wait 'til we find out.

3:10 PM. According to the "journalists" side of the official website. (Registering for it was trivial.)

Thanx Jarvis.
I need to give it some serious thought. I'm asuming the five speed is the same one thats in my WRX. For me the 2.5 turbo and new 6 speed would have been the killer set up.

Jarvis forgot to mention:

* 2.5L DOHC

Thus endeth the debate. A detuned STi engine. w00t!!!

Hmmmm, I wonder if it will be to mod it to STi levels of power, or are some of the engine internals different?

Should be very interesting! I may have to get an auto Forester XT for my soon-to-be wife and soon-to-be boat.

I sure hope you mean 'soon-to-have' boat, either way it could be taken a bad way.

As for my take, doesn't sound too bad, just wish they used 7" wide wheels, too much sidewall deflection for my tastes, especially since I think 205's on a 6.5" wide wheel aren't square enough. Let's just see if they bring the Sports Cross!

See -- no 2.0T. The 2.5T is going to be the workhorse engine for the USDM (based on our one data point).

Well, my conservitive 210hp guess was right, but I also thought it wouldnt have the AVCS. 235ft-lbs at 3,600rpms is gonna be GREAT though! And since it doest have the AVCS and is based on the STI engine, STI-like 300hp would be easy

Where do I sign up!!!

I believe the PDF either says or implies that it's air to air.

Yes, I agree. It says:

The functional scoop in the aluminum hood provides fresh air to the engine-mounted intercooler.
Hmm. Just noticed for the first time that the Forester XT has an aluminum hood.

Also has an aluminum roof and hatch skin. They are one of the additions to the new Forester that reduce weight according to my dealer.
