Default 18 inch wheel question?

Need expert advice. I am looking to install 18x8.75 wheels
with the recommended tire fitting. Now the offset is 50mm.
I also have the front lowered 1.5 inch and the rear 1 inch and I have sti 4-pots on front. The million dollar question is,
should there be any issues with these wheels.
Any expert advice would be greatly appreciated.

Rob

I would think the recommended size would be 235/40/18... But I think 225/40/18 would work, being the minimum you can get on them. I could be wrong though... there's a chart that tells you... search for "miata wheel chart" It was posted on here at one time.

I think this size wheel would be tight, but I think it'll be ok with that offset... Let us know.

Thumbs up

I am running Speedline GT 1 in 18 x 7.5 with a 48 mm offset. 225/40/18, on my sedan. The offset may not be enough at 50. Since your new wheels are 8.75 inches wide the center of the rim now needs to be offset less to center properly and therfore you may need to look at 48mm offset. With luck 2mm hopefully wont make a difference.

The question of clearing the brakes may not be a question of offset but the angle of the spokes of the wheel. Example is ROTA subzeros in 17" clear bigger brakes but the 18s may not.

What is the wheel you are going to use?
I would recomend a test fit first if you can before you buy them.

Owen

Food for thought.

Yeah 225 is recommended for the sedan and that's with 18x8

I was saying that 235 would probably be the recommendation for the 18x8.75" rim...

I forgot to mention my car is lowered 1.5" front and 1" rear. No rubbing issues. I track my car. I am adding the Stoptech big brake kit this spring. I know they will fit my Speedline GT1s which will be set up with R compound tires for track and they clear ROTA Subzeros which I will use for everyday and for winter.
