Quite a few have. It usually requires fender rolling. Stiffer suspension is a plus as well. It'll depend on the tires. Here's my 17x8.5 Slipstreams with 245/40/17 RE01R's:

According to the tire calculator, 17x8 +42 will stick out 0.013" less than my 17x8.5 +48's above ^^^^

http://www.geocities.com/gmfwd/pages/tirecalc.html

225's should fit fine with some fender rolling.

KYB AGX Struts
Prodrive springs
225/45ZR17 Goodyear Eagle F1 All-Season
05 LGT wheels

I don't have this set up installed yet, (getting struts and springs today) but I was curious if I'm going to rub. my concern is that I'm running too narrow a wheel for my tires and that I will rub with the new springs and struts.

Update: after install, tires rubbed severely on struts. Camber bolts and an hour on the alignment rack fixed this. Currently no rubbing issues other than my mudflaps rubbing on driveways.

I think you should be fine. I'm running stock wheels 17x7 with 225/45/17 dropped on prodrive springs.

Quick question.

I have an 05 wagon lowered on tein h techs, but with 3/8" saggy butt shims installed. The ride height in the rear with the spacers, APPEARS almost stock, but not quite.
I am purchasing some 17x7.5 ROTA torques next week, and am thinking about a 225 wide tire. Think I will have rubbing issues? Fenders are not currently rolled, but if I get rubbing, they will be.

Bringing this back...
I'm currently on Tokico D-Specs with RCE Wagon Springs + Scooby Spacer in the rear.
Drop rates are 25mm front, 22mm rear for the springs.

I just purchased OEM MY06 WRX 17x7 wheels, and am looking at 225/45 17 Falken RT-615 tires.

Should I expect a rubbing issue, or any other problems? I'm on stock camber plates.

Thanks!

Default Any rub with moderate lowering and 235/45/17 tires?

I am looking at lowering (1.2" front, 1" rear) springs for my stock '04 wrx wagon. I also have a brand new pair of 235/45/17s from another car and was wondering if i could put them on a 17x7.5 wheel and not have rubbing. I spoke with someone already he didn't think it would be a problem... was wondering if anyone else had experience/advice about this. Thanks for any tips.

I just installed the following wheel/tire package from TireRack on my 2002 WRX Wagon:

17x7.5 ET48 wheel
225/45-17 Kumho XS tires

Mods:
RCE wagon springs
Koni Inserts

I have not experienced any rubbing yet hitting speed humps, driveway entrances, dips, etc. around town. The clearance looks fine to the eye. I have to see how it does at HPDE this spring.

Default Enkei RPF1

2005 WRX wagon:

Before:
1) Stock height (20mm rear sway)
2) Rota SDRs 17x7.5 et48
3) Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212 225/45r17
4) No rolling
5) No rubbing

This summer:
1) Stock height, but would like to lower
2) Enkei RPF1 17x8 et45
3) Bridgestone Potenza RE070 225/45r17 (almost to wear bars)
4) No rolling
5) No rubbing (I think - only swapped out my snow tires / stock wheels for a few days during a warm spell in Jan.)

I think the poster above said he had Ground Control coilovers. Anybody else here have the Enkei RPF1s?

The SDR + RS2s never rubbed on very aggressive street driving and one track day, even while my Rally Armour mudflaps would scrape like hell on drainage dips at driveway and parking lot entrances.

The RE070s are about an inch wider than the RS2s and there was less than a finger (plus thin driving gloves) width between them and the rear struts. The worn RE070s are smaller in diameter than the SDR+RS2 and there is huge wheel gap with stock suspension. I'm going to mount an almost new set of RE070s after cording these. I'd guess the struts would be more problematic than the fender with lowering. I'm just starting research on struts & springs or coilovers, but Tokiko D-Spec or Koni inserts and Prodrive springs for more drop in front than back seems like the way to go. The strut clearance seems very tight even on stock suspension and I don't want to roll.

The more I search, the more confusing it gets. So I am going to ask: will 17x7.5 +48 offset clear the 06/07 brakes? Pretty sure everyone has said the tire wont rub the strut or fender, which is good - but I just want to make sure it wont wreak havoc on the brakes. Im sitting on Prodrive springs.
