I'm rocking 245/40/17 17x8 +45 no rubbing but I wanted it lower so I rolled. At stock height no rub. At finger gap no rub. I'm on kw coils. I'm looking into getting 17x9 with the same size tire. It should fit without major modifications. Check out 'wagons can be stuffy' thread.

1) The lowered suspension set-up you chose (actual drop if available)
RCE Wagon Springs, Koni inserts.

2) The wheels you chose (size & offset).
17x7.5 ET48

3) Your Tire brand and model (confirm that they are 225/45-17).
Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 2 XL load range

4) Any modifications made to prevent rubbing?
Rear fenders rolled years ago as preventative measure

5) Are you rubbing??? (yes or no)

I am for sure going with 45 series. I was going to just get 17x7.5 +45. Your post was just what I was looking for because I would prefer the wheel not to be sucked in the sidewall as much. I don't want to go with a crazy low offset either. 17x8 +45 should be perfect!

Looking for some advice please. I don't want coil overs, and I'm looking for maybe 10mm drop a little more or a little less Im not to concerned just getting some opinions.

Current setup.
2005 WRX Wagon
Stock Struts and Springs
Enkei Evo 5 18x7.5 +44
Federal SS 595 235/40ZR18 91W
Have yet to try anything to fix rub issue. (new setup)
I get rub when I corner hard on both front along the outside edge of the tires. It also rubs sometimes on sharp bumps in the rear along outside edge as well.

235/45zr17 Hankook Evo 12's on Forester STi 17x7 (5x100) wheels, mounted on my 2005 Saab 92x. Lowered on Mach V. Springs with 1/4" saggy butt spacers:
