Question Legacy GT gear ratios?

Ok, so my center differential has metal pieces in it. My transmission also needs a syncro for 5th gear.

Does anyone know what transmission I can swap back in that has the same ratios as the Legacy GT gearbox? Else, I'm going to have to buy new parts (not all bad of course ).

TIA,
Erik

It uses the same gear ratios as the 5spd RS, or any subie that has a 2.5L N/A engine (in case you thought the new STi has the same ratios).

Stop, that is wrong info.......the trans for a 2.5GT is the same as a 2.5RS. That is it. Nothing else.
I will say that almost any 2.5L trans will BOLT UP to any other 2.5L engine, but the final drive ratios MAY be different (a 98 OB will work in a 98 GT) and the rest of the ratios WILL be different.
I know, been there, doing that.
If you look on your trans near the starter, there is a white sticker ~1/4" x 2". The number on it is a "spec number" and does not match up to the dealer P/N. This is the number you care about.
Example:
1998 2.5GT 5MT = 95-TY752V2DAA
1998 OB 5MT = 96-TY752V2DCA

The OB trans worked in my 2.5GT, but the speedo/odo were off and the true RPM vs road speed were a lot different. The RPM's were about 700RPM high at 80mph. There is also no good way to correct the speedo error.
