Default Headlight mod on STi?

This is kinda silly, in light of the hardcore topics flying around in this forum. But some pictures look like they've done the 'headlight mod' on the STi - blacked out some of the reflective surfaces inside of the headlight housing. Maybe it just looks that way from certain angles. Just wanted to know if anyone else saw it that way too.

It is my understanding that the American STi will have the super duper HID lights while the Canadian version will have regular lights.

i noticed that too, i liked the blacked out look personally. I thought it was just the angle and lighting of the picture but I could be wrong. I did see the sti at the baltimore autoshow and it did not have it.

I'm surprised at how many people care about how their headlights, taillights and turn signals look. They're pretty much a functional part of the car; I have never given them a second thought.

I love the non-USDM STi headlights too. Unfortunately ours will be full of orange junk.

I would much rather you make friends in Germany or another LHD country. I wouldn't want to be driving on the opposite side of the road as you when you blind me with Japanese RHD headlights.

I dont think that the orange blinker in the headlight will be very hard to pull out... I assume that Subaru doesnt make a special headlight for US market and its prolly just a bolt-on ...

My observation was actually about the reflective housing around the lights. I just noticed that it seems to look different in some of the pictures. It's kinda odd after having the WRC and street cars have totally different lights for the past couple of years, having the lights look so similar, huh?

I dunno. The '03 Foresters got the wrx "Headlight mod" done to them. Possibly after seeing it done so frequently on this board.
