Question 30000 mile service

just curious what people think about the 30,000 mile service price tag? seems a bit expensive to me: $471 quoted at Rahway Route 1 Subaru Dealership. Does anyone no of a cheaper place or if it is recommended/worthwhile to do this service? thanks for your help.

Dealers rip you off with those outragous service costs. Do it yourself, keep reciepts and document. If a dealer trys to void your warrently because you did'nt pay for that thirty dollar oil-change they are screwen you over. I had my car's syncros fixed a month after I bought it, the previous owner had'nt even registered with SOA.

I used to go to Rahway. I now go to Flemington for better prices, more experienced techs and better service (although the Service Manager that was there a couple of years ago got canned).

Call Flemington at 908-782-5107.

Even if you don't know how to do everything, you can at least do the diff, engine oil and air filter changes yourself. I already knew how to do the oil, but learned how to do the diff and air filter just from reading the owner's manual on my OBS. That'll save you a few bucks at least.

edit: BTW, Flemington doesn't add on a bunch of unnecessary extras like some dealers do.

ya, the rahway one listed everything on the 30k service, i mean even including stuff like detailing the car, checking windshield wipers and filling up all fluids, i guess they think we are incapable of noticing when the wipers arent working. later.
