Question Thunderhill Park Apr 19th HPDS

Thunderhill Park is having another High Performance Driving School on Apr. 19th. I attended the last event and it was very fun and you learn from a great volunteer staff of trained/veteran drivers to help you. Things you learn are shifting, breaking, entering/leaving corners, and how to be/stay smooth in the “track line”. It is a very safe track to learn on with a lot of run off with out walls coming at you.

Last time there were about 6 Subaru’s out there total. There was about three wagons and three sedans at the event. They split the group into threes A, B, & C. The ‘C’ group doesn’t have an instructor with you in the car. But you need experience in order to run in the ‘C’ group.

Anyway I was just wondering if anyone was interested in joining me from SAC area. We could drive up together, park, hangout…whatever.

Here is the link to the web page ( www.thunderhill.com ) for more detail. But it’s about 200 bucks and you get 5 each 20 to 25 min. sessions with an instructor, lunch and a t-shirt. It’s a lot of fun and pretty safe as long as you follow instructions. Make sure to bring a helmet or you can rent one for 25 bucks.

Just want to spread the good word here on NASIOC.

PM me if anyone is serious about attending. It's in Apr so you guys on a budget can start saving!

There are track events that gives you more time/cost less money at TH than this.

And I think the TH HPDS sucks, those instructors don't coordinate with each other very well. One instructor will tell you to do one thing, and one the next run another instructor will say what you were told is wrong.

Hay that's great that you decided to comment. Everyone has there opinions. The track is very fun IMO and much safer than others (FWIBT). As far as the instructors go I think everyone has there own driving style and you have to take it all in and see what works best for you. You say there are other track events that give you more time and cost less...but you fail to state which ones and where they are???

It's a fun track for beginners. If the track sucked as you put it you wouldn't see people driving Corvetts, Porsches, BMW M3's, and 350Z out there...

I'm not saying that the track sucks, its the event organization that sucks. Besides the instructors, they could barely squeeze 4 runs when I was there, because they couldn't get the cars in/out at the grid at a timely manner.

here. Its over, but $275 for 2 days. Alot cheaper.

Cool bemani, I understand what you are saying now. Before it seemed you were saying the track sucked as well. A more detailed teaching schedule or step by step instruction that each instructor could give may be helpful but just being out there, driving, learning, and having fun was worth it. If you want to get your SCCA driving license then this is not the class for you.

Thanks for the other info on the speedventures site. Seem like a pretty good deal. The cost seemed about the same when you add in the 20 bucks per day for novice's who need instruction.
