Just wondering if they are good or bad. They are pretty affordable for 17s. Thanks

Would you rather choose Perelli P7000s or the Yokohama A520s?

The A520's do a really great impersonation of offroad truck tires in terms of sound.
They'd have to be insanely sticky to make up for the crazy noise levels they generate, & IMO, that's impossible. |

They sure are loud, but...
..they work great and my first set lasted me well over two years of commuting in my -3 inch del Sol that had a huge amount of negitive camber. I'm now on my second set. Luke. |

I've got three days on my A520's. So far, so good. Not to much noticeable noise yet?! Way better then stock! I took my 15mph off ramp at 45mph no problem at all

For you guys that are enjoying the A520's, have you had any experience with other high end tires? (not tires like Neatos, Paradas, or other "tuner" tires)

I just got a set of A520's. I could notice the noise immediately. They are grippy, but I talked a few auto-x'ers and they said the Yoko AVS Intermediates were even more grippy, plus they're cheaper. So, if I had to do it again, I'd go AVS Intermediates. Not sure if they come in 17's though.
Edit: Yeah, Ridinlow, they are a pretty tire. That's what sold me. But, I started realizing I was getting my ass beat at auto-x's by people running The Intermediates.[This message has been edited by redobs (edited June 04, 2001).] |

I had a set on my civic. One word - LOUD! Every time I took it in for any kind of service that included a road test (including performance shops) I would get a note that there was something wrong with the tires. They were that loud. Unlike some others, mine would not wear out. After 2 full summer seasons, they were only about 1/2 gone.
I could stand them no longer and when my car's role changed from back road burner to highway cruiser I replaced them with SP9000s. I really noticed the softer sidewall of the Dunlops, but they are so much better in every way. In summary, maybe an okay track tire, but I would not recommend for anyone doing any sort of daily/highway driving. -Andrew |

SUCKRES!!!!!!
Noise? What noise? I got those on my 400Hp Datsun. Way cheaper than AVS. ( In 265/40/17 anyhow. Hoverwer, not as good) Mad dry grip!!! Good looks too. Do know nothing about the damn noise. I can not hear much behinnd blow off valve, stereo blasting, wind whooshing and passnager screaming. I like Yokos! All and any! Get them - U will not be sorry. Eugene |

I chose these as a compromise tire for size (225/45), capability, and price. Accelleration and braking are good. High speed stability is excellent. They absorb road bumps well. Because they are stiff, you're going to feel some road vibration. The car feels firmly planted and steering takes a little more effort than stock tires.
Noise. The only time I notice them is when I'm coming to a stop. On the road I can't hear them over my intake and exhaust or the stereo. Compared to my truck - that has truck tires - they are dead silent. I've run these on a couple of autocrosses and they work very well. Would an ultra-high performance tire work better? Sure, but I didn't want to spend the money on tires that wouldn't last a year. |
